There’s something funny about a Dutch nobleman holding a cell phone camera. 
I agree. It would be more ‘authentic’ if he were holding two tin cans and some string.
The berries in my folks’ crop are small, but they are a very dark purple. And, as garygnu suggested, they do start out bright red.
Pretty sure my mom’s not gonna change her mind about them, though.
Also, I am in total agreement with everyone else: Kid_A, your photos are awesome. Kinda inspires me to post this feeble attempt at serious photography.
