I like the Enchilada ones best, but Nacho or Cool Ranch will work.
OTOH, I don’t really like Doritos that much; I prefer On The Border brand Cantina Thins (plain, no flavors).
I used to think Cool Ranch was amazing, much better than Nacho Cheese. Something clicked in my head and now I love the regular Nacho Cheese ones the most.
I haven’t had Doritos in ages, but of the bunch, I think the Taco flavor is the only one I still like. I pretty much hate ranch anything, so that’s out (although I did like them in high school). The Nacho Cheese ones are decent, but the taco ones and maybe the plain corn ones are the ones I’d choose now. I’ve never tried the other flavors, but I dislike that BBQ flavor all the BBQ chips have, so it’s doubtful I’ll like those. Sweet Chili Heat does sound intriguing, though.
What about the Blazing Buffalo? (OK, I’ll also eat the Sweet Chili, Cool Ranch, or even original).
Oh, I forgot. I’ve had the fiery habanero or maybe the 3rd Degree Burn ones, and I did enjoy those, too. But I still think Taco wins.
Hey, does anybody else remember a short-lived, possibly-being-test-marketed version of Doritos that was labeled as “Flavor Blasted” or something to that effect?
I specifically remember the “story” on the back of the bag reading something to the effect of “Do you always search a bag of chips for that one chip with the most seasoning? Then this is the brand for you!” the idea being that every chip in the bag was thickly coated in flavoring, or did I imagine this?
No doritos for me.
Cool Ranch or Nacho. Haven’t tried the Chipotle yet - that might be worth a try.
Sour Cream ‘n’ Onion. It was discontinued in the mid-80s. When they brought it back briefly six months ago, I must’ve gone through 6 bags in 2 months.
Not really a huge fan of Doritos; I’ve got a certain fastidiousness that is triggered by having any sort of flavor-dust on my hands, and I am not going to sink to putting on latex gloves to eat snack foods. But if I’m going to eat 'em, I prefer Cool Ranch.
Tacos at Midnight was my fave but I think they discontinued it.
A while back they (temporarily?) had a jalapeno poppers flavor. I really liked it, but I haven’t seen it since.
They keep bringing out new flavors and then discontinuing them after a month. What’s the point of that? It just makes you not want to try them since you know they’ll be gone soon.
Oh, that reminds me. I did love those Late Night All-Nighter Cheeseburger Doritos. Man, I just love that dill flavor it had.
Years ago, they test marketed ‘Salsa Rio’ Doritos where I lived. They were corn-based crack…
ETA: I have to live with Nacho now.
Preference: Tapatio hot sauce flavor.
Others I’d accept: the Spicy Sweet Chili ones mentioned in the poll (only if I’m using them for something else, like scooping up cottage cheese (don’t ask) or crumbling into quick-and-dirty burritos made of whatever’s lying around). Flamas. The Doritos Jacked variant Enchilada Supreme.
Never want again: the Mountain Dew flavored “The Quest,” a review of which by the AV Club is here.
Use chopsticks.
I’m with you. There were Guacamole Doritos for a while and I really liked those, but unless they bring them back I’ll stick with Nacho Cheese.
Google tells me that they’ve had some brief “limited time” returns, but I wasn’t aware. I started to wonder if there’s an email alert I could get. Then I decided I don’t want to be that person.
Grab a red solo cup and add Doritos. Shake one into your mouth. Repeat as needed. Works a treat for snacking on something greasy or powdery when you are playing cards or reading a book or whatever and don’t want goop on your hands.
It’s true it works best for popcorn, but there’s no reason you couldn’t use it for Doritos too.
ETA: I just realized I said “red solo cup.” I don’t even like that guy, but the song seems to have wormed itself into my consciousness. Yeehaw.
