Whatever one does with one’s on toothbrush is one’s on personal business. I don’t judge.
Twink I have decided that a teeth cleaning is far more to be desired than seein’ and cleanin’ up cat puke times two. I have added this to the list of reasons why I don’t want a cat. ICK!
Bobbio what’s the deal on the boxer? You keepin’ him? Is he named? [del]Nosy[/del] inquiring cool kids wanna know.
Great OP! And great pics! I haven’t been to the zoo in years, unless you count Sea World and Discovery Cove. I want to go to the Atlanta Zoo, 'cause they have pandas - including a baby panda - but I don’t want to go to Atlanta. Kind of a problem, don’t cha think? The traffic in Atlanta makes me ball up in a hard knot.
A guy on our hockey board keeps posting questions about the new jerseys. No one (at least no one who’s telling) knows what this years jerseys will look like yet. I started to post something about them having the team logo on them, but decided not to be snarky this early on a monday.
Today is laundry day. Envy me.
I love zoos. We’re members of the Minnesota zoo so we’ve been there 3 times already since moving here. Before that KeithT was a member of the Milwaukee zoo so I’ve been there a couple times. And Madison has a free zoo as does St. Paul so we’ve been to both of those. I haven’t been to the Bronx zoo though. Oh well.
We finally got some planning done for the wedding this weekend. Talked to the coordinator at the inn where it’s going to be and got some details straightened out there. And got a registry set up. So people can give us stuff! Woo!
Actually, that was the hard part. We don’t need anything and there’s very little that we want. We tried to find practical home stuff at Home Depot to register for, but everything that we might want is stuff that we’ll want *someday * when we’re in a house but not now. So it’s kinda frustrating. We know we’re going to need stuff *someday * but people want to buy us stuff now and we don’t need anything. ::sigh::
I’m popular with truckers today. That oughta bring gotti out of the woodworks.
So far four trucks have been here for pickup and delivery. One truck is being loaded right now while another is waiting to make a delivery. We have only one dock. A couple of the truckers have been all burly. I should have offered to entertain 'em while they wait.
I’m having a Quarter Pounder with Cheese and fries for lunch. I was craving it.
Good morning everyone.
Very nice pics, Mika.
I’ve been to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, Woodland Park Zoo (Seattle), some zoo in Vancouver, BC and I think I was at a zoo while I lived in Germany. I seem to have a memory of that, anyway.
At any rate, the zoos are nice. Oh, I’ve also been to Northwest Trek, which a wildlife park, not a zoo. It’s for animal indigenous to this area. You ride a tram and see the animals in their habitat. Well, except for the animals that prey upon others; those live in a separate area and you walk around those exhibits.
At any rate, the zoos here are okay. Point Defiance has done an admirable job remaking itself. It’s really very nice now, and seems much nicer for the animals. Woodland Park Zoo is okay, I guess. I haven’t been there for close to 10 years, so it might have changed by now.
I’m off work today because it’s Columbus Day. I plan to steam clean my daughter’s room. I couldn’t get in there before, because in typical teenage girl fashion, she hides out up there almost all the time.
After steam cleaning her room, I need to get myself cleaned up and head to the grocery store, return home, clean some more downstairs, and do laundry. I need to change sheets too.
I think I’ll cruise the Dope for just a little longer, then I must work, work, work!
Great op, Mika! Love the pictures! Love the Aquaducks tour – there’s a similar one in DC that I keep meaning to play tourist and take. And most of all, I love zooz! (It sounds like it should be spelled zooz, plus it looks better that way.) We go to zooz everywhere we go if there’s one around. I literally wept when I heard the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans reopened a few months after Katrina; we had a membership there and would visit regularly. Zooz are good! The best zoo we went to was on our honeymoon, though – actually, it was more of a wild animal park, but we were driving around Japan just going wherever we felt like, and we came across this park so of course had to go in. Turns out the people would ride around in buses that had cages built around them, and would stop periodically and feed the animals from the bus. So the people were caged and the animals were free. It struck me as a great arrangement.
Not to worry, FCM, your cat is not the only one on The List. Our Emily has taken to having dance practice. At 3 a.m. Using Papa Tigs as the dance floor. He’s just thrilled, as you can imagine.
Drae, I know about helping out weddings of ex-boyfriends. I made the wedding dress for my high school boyfriend’s wedding. The whole town was agog. It was great.
It’s dentist day today here, too. We discovered Friday when I tried to make an appointment for Papa Tigs cause he chipped a tooth that our stupid dental insurance hadn’t switched our assigned dentist to the folks we’d picked after we moved up here, and of course by then it was too late to do anything till today. So I’ve been on the phone off and on all morning with either the dentist’s office or the insurance company to try to get it all squared away. I wish Papa Tigs were more competent at dealing with insurance companies, but we learned long ago that he goes from calm to frothing insanity at the drop of a hat when dealing with them, so I was assigned the task permanently. Also the task of dealing with the electric company, the cable company, etc. It’s much easier in the long run.
And now back to work. As per usual, the stoopid rush job is, of course, running long. Also running slow. Between the mumbling and the swallowed words and the “I mean, you know” six times in every sentence, I’m about to tear my hair out. Have pity on me. I’m not as pitiful as Drae’s broke butt, but I’m still feeling very sorry for myself and I just know you all want to join in.
Very nice OP, Anaamika; I love zoos too, so really enjoyed all the pics. Washington DC is blessed to have the National Zoo and it doesn’t cost anything to get into (although they may charge for parking - I always go there on the subway/bus). Haven’t been in a number of years and there have been many changes since then, most notably the baby Panda who is now over a year old!! Need to get there before next summer, when he goes to China.
Have had an enjoyable and relaxing weekend! I baked an apple pie that turned out really nicely - used granny smith apples, as was suggested by friends on another forum (LOL can you imagine, a forum other than SDMB?!). Now I’ve got a batch of chicken white chili cooking up in the crock pot - it smells delicious, but I hope it’s not too spicy!!
Uh oh, what’s wrong with Brandy, FCM?! She’s not sick, is she? I hope not! So sorry that she’s on The List, and hope all is well with her, as with your van too!
Well I should say the whole town was agog. After all your ex-boyfriend wore a hand made dress to his wedding.
What’s wrong with Brandy? I think she’s out of her flipping mind! I’m pretty sure she keeps eating the dog’s kibble and that’s what upsets her tummy. Stoopit cat.
The family room looks aces. I found and paid a couple of bills that were lost on the desk. I sorted the big pile o’ papers, tossed what needed to be tossed, recycled the recycling, and filed the rest. The dishwasher is emptied, and lunch has been eaten. So I can start loading dirty dishes again. Next stop, the living room.
Sigh…I had planned on being started in my daughter’s room.
However, I had to reload the printer drivers and reinstall Office on this computer. After I installed office, I had to do all the friggin’ updates. How irritating. I had just done this a couple of weeks ago, but the hubby decided to do something to the computer, so all that stuff was lost. The problem is, he doesn’t think about the printer drivers or the Office software, so the kids complain about it to me. Argh!
I took advantage of the fact that the husband isn’t home and did the above, so now the kids can print their homework again and actually complete their homework.
For those of you who may remember, I have banished my cat to the outdoors. He’s still doing fine, although every once in a while, we hear him meowing out front. We bring him in, and then take him out back again. Stoopit cat! Once he’s out back, he’s happy again. I’m sure he’d be much happier indoors, but I can’t let him pee on my carpet again and I don’t want to take him to the humane society; they’ll just put him to sleep.
I should start my chores now.
I grew up in deepest, darkest, Vermont. No zoos to be seen for many a mile. If there’s one in Montreal then I guess that would be the closest. I’ve been to the Boston Aquarium a couple times, which I guess is like an underwater zoo.
Pbbbtht! That’s why I said I made “the” dress, not “his” dress. I made her dress, silly! A nice hippy blue flowered dress. Everyone was agog over that, too.
Don’t harsh me. I am enjoying the idea of your ex-boyfriend in a hand made dress at his wedding. It’s fun in my world.
Cool pics mika! I love the zoo, it’s kind of a family tradition that we always go on Mother’s Day.
No work today, yay!
Got up early to get a workout in, then saw the lovely Jen for my massage, then off to da mall for some replacement jeans. I found a copy of the Fawlty Towers DVD on sale, so I snapped that up too. Then I ran into a friend at the mall and got talked into Chipotle for lunch.
I’m just goint to spend the afternoon here, getting somehousework done, scanning the Dope and maybe watch some Basil and Sybil…
Gee, Mom, you never said you had a boyfriend who was a crossdresser. g
Pbbbbtht! to you, too, you ungrateful child, you! What does a person have to do around here to not be mocked and humiliated, eh?
:dubious:
Ummmm, not show up??
<snerk>
Speaking of not showing up, where’s the cheeselog? And welby? And Bumba??
Who needs truckers when there’s Bears In Kilts to ogle?
And that one furry cub in the Constables that I just want to grab and take home and hug him and squeeze him and call him George.
’Mika, you’ve inspired me. This month will NOT pass without a trip to the zoo or Wild Animal Park. I have year passes for a reason, dangit! Using them would be the smart thing to do. We just get busy doing other stuff and forget about it for a while.
The singing whores show was dreadful. Really dreadful. Today, I am not a proud member of what used to be the elite. I am ashamed.
This weekend reminded me again, though, why I quit doing faire.
bouv, what is it about Vermont? Montpelier is also the only capital city without a McDonalds. I mean, good on y’all, is this all part of a statewide philosophy? Maybe I should read more about Vermont…besides what’s on the back of a Ben and Jerry’s container about the RBGH, I mean.
Hope yer butt is feelin’ a little better today, Drae.
Now I’m going to get on with the business of worrying about how to acquire a band for the company holiday party. I could really laze out and just hire the one we had last year that sucked, and I have a feeling that’s what’ll keep me from killing my micro-managing boss, but I should at least try, right?
Happy Monday, all!
