Yet another Netflix animated series based on a video game (see also: Castlevania, Arcane, The Cuphead Show, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Tekken: Bloodline).
I thought it was kind of meh. It’s fairly generic fantasy heist stuff with a few Dragon Age bits tacked on. The last episode was kind of interesting in how it was setting up for a second season (I’m not holding my breath, though).
We have been looking for a new fantasy show to watch but while I played all three games my memory of the setting is spotty at best. Is the show good about catching you up on the lore if you are unfamiliar?
There isn’t much explanation of the lore, other than explaining that Tevinter is a land ruled by mages and their templar servants and elven slaves. So (for instance) there’s a qunari character but they don’t say much of anything about what qunari are.
Having said that, I think most people can understand a show with elves and dwarves and swords and spells, etc.
