DragonCon-- Atlanta, here I come!

Is anything non-dragon related happening in the way of a dopefest here?

Sort of. Arden, Verrain Fiver and I got together for some drinks and peoplewatching here at the con last night, and a good and interesting time was had by all.

We were hoping to gather more folks, but we can’t find them.

Fiver, as the actual resident of this city, is sort of the focal point. If folks want to get together, drop him an email.

Well, it’s late in the weekend, but I just emailed Glenn.

How long is everyone in town?

I think they’re leaving Monday.

Simetra, are you out there? Let us know how to get in touch with you!

I hope all you lucky con attendees are having a blast-- with any luck, I’ll be there next year (alone if need be, I hate missing DragonCon!). I’d buy you a round if I was there!

I’m off to the New York State Renaissance Festival today, so at least I get to dress up funny for something this weekend.

And so another Dragoncon has come to an end. It was a pretty good outing, if a little smaller than usual and rather poorly organized.

We thought about you, Rosebud. At least, I did.

Shout outs to manhattan, Arden Ranger and Verrain; it was good to meet you three IRL.

Sorry you never found us, Simetra. It was easy to find the others: I just headed for the bar.

I don’t think I had TIME to look for any of you. If you’re curious, I was the short chick on the red scooter zipping around. That thing saved my life, what with all the really long distances involved. Those are freaking BIG hotels.

Oy am I tired. But I mostly had a blast. The good stuff was GREAT, the not so good stuff was pretty awful (but there was a lot less of it). Hopefully I got some good pictures of various people.

Just got home after the flight from hell but my weekend was FABULOUS!

Claudia (Ivonava) and Alex Tyddings (Aphrodite) are a hoot and hot to boot. Half naked chicks everywhere! Jerry (Garabaldi) has no secrets after this weekend, apparently :D. The Wuj (Amber people know :)0 had great stories, Jason Carter is ever so yummy, Harlin Ellison is a scary little man, John Ryhs-Davies is just cool and Lord of the Rings is SO gonna rock!

The Bar at the Hyatt is a wonderful place, BTW.

Verrain and Fiver, it was great to meet and I had a blast getting to know you guys. manhattan, well, what can one say? I think I love you.

I know there’s more, but I’m still jazzed about it and most of ya don’t wanna hear about it, I’m sure.

You guys that were there, when you get pics, I would like to get them all posted somewhere with mine.

For those that missed us, bummer. Maybe next year. I am so gonna be there again

For those interested, here are the first of the pictures posted from the Con by one of the Con list members.

Even better ones are here

As my post count shows, I’m more of a lurker than a poster. I live in North Atlanta (Alpharetta) and this was my first DragonCon.

WOW!

First observation was that there were more tattoos than bras. This is very much a good thing =)
I saw James Doohan (Scotty) Friday morning, and I’m glad I did. I am guessing he won’t be with us much longer. He seems to be about half the weight from his appearance in “Trekkies”. He’s lost the middle finger on his right hand, and has terrible palsy in his right arm.
I saw Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica NOT Survivor). Herbert Jefferson and Dirk Benedict weren’t on stage with him, though they were scheduled to be. I heard that there had been a fight between the three of them last year and that Dirk and Herbert walked off the stage. Not sure if this is a continuation of that, or just poor luck on my part.
It was the first time I’ve seen Elvira (Cassandra Peterson) without her costume. She is amazingly beautiful still. She looks no older than 35 and carries herself quite well.

The art show was a real mix of fantastic and mediocre. I think the artists knew it as well. Every piece I loved was either not for sale or well over $500.

I found it somewhat humorous, yet depressing that Tom Savini was sitting in the vendor section selling autographed photos for $10/pop instead of being in the Walk of Fame (which I didn’t visit). What made it worse was the utter dearth of interest in them during my three visits through there.

I loved the board gaming. Until I can find a way to make it to the War Room, it has been VERY hard to find mature board/card gamers in the Alpharetta area. Hanging out at tables and playing or watching was a very welcome change.

Oh well… hopefully I’ll get a few more posts under my belt, and will get a chance to meet you all next year (I’ve already registered).

I was there. Sorry I missed you guys, but I’m sure I actually saw you at one point. I think I saw everybody.

Matter of fact, I probably have pictures of you and don’t know it.

If you were party to the Court of Bedlam, went to the Buffy Slumber Party, then you saw me.

As far as my opinion on the Con as a whole, I can only say two words:

It rocked!

Ooops… meant to hit preview and missed.

As I was saying, if you knew the King of Bedlam, went to the BVS: Slumber Party, saw the latex model demonstration, or hung out on the first floor at the bottom of the escalator, then you saw me.

Also, if you went to the Cry for Dawn, then you saw my friend Ost up on stage with Anthony Daniels. Yeah, he was the one that offered to give him a BJ, and we were the freaks up front with all the beer.

Hm. I don’t think we were at anything you were, Simetra.

Unless you were at The Bar.

I don’t have my ticket for '02 yet, but I will as soon as they go on sale at the site!

Well Simetra I was wearing a long multicolored Doctor Who for most of the con so that should narrow it down for you if you saw me or not. Of course there were two others with such scarfs but I always had a T-shirt underneath not the jackets they did.

Ok I was obviously not wearing a long multicolored British TV character for the whole of the con but you get the idea. Obviously I have not recovered from the lack of sleep and the sensory overload of all the beautiful people.

I’m dragging this up one more time just for this Onion article.

I was there but all I did was play game tournaments. Other than that I had no idea where anything was.

I was wondering if anyone was going to post that DragonCon Onion article. <hee hee>
