Y’know, I tend to have a very small Ignore list (there’s all of two Dopers on it right now, and even the second one is a recent addition) because even people I consistently disagree with usually have some worthwhile things to say, even if it’s just arguments for their positions I disagree with that merit a response.
But why should I keep someone with the attitude you express of my Ignore list, when you’re basically saying that me and my kind don’t have anything worthwhile to say?
Here is DrDeth marveling at the amount of time it must take to keep track of all the false and misleading statements he made in a single thread. For the record, it didn’t take hours, and I don’t think it’s even a complete list. He almost certainly spewed more bullshit than just the 32 instances I documented. I probably missed some.
What I really came by here to say, though, is that DrDeth is being a first-class shithead in the “Is Touching Co-Workers OK?” thread, and taking up a lot of space in the thread while doing so. I might put him on Ignore temporarily, just to make it easier to read the damn thread.

I’m not a follower of DrDeth but I do know that he appears like clockwork in any thread about guns, defending them til the cows come home. And in case anyone missed his broken-record diatribes, understand that it’s completely fair to compare the US gun death rate with that of Mexico, just in case anyone was wondering, and anyone who doesn’t think so is a bigot. It’s not at all fair to compare the US gun death rate with the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Germany, Australia, Finland, Japan, New Zealand, or any of the other countries in the civilized world where gun death rates are an order of magnitude or two orders of magnitude less than the US, because that wouldn’t be nice. But go ahead and compare US gun death rates with those in Mexico and Yemen, because that’s fair.
So DrDeth is basically a motivated hot-headed gun nut and that’s about the limits of my experience with him. But the fucker doesn’t even hold a candle to Ditka, who is nothing more than a shit-disturbing opprobrious troll who has intentionally caused more well-meaning posters to run afoul of the rules than any other trolling shithead I have ever encountered here, and should be banned for that alone.
There is also no fringe pseudo-science that he won’t vigorously defend against mainstream scholarship.
That thread seems like a lot of argument for an unsourced meme on Facebook. Do other people take memes that seriously?
