Ideally, for many of the Usual Suspects there would be a certain number of conservatives showing up, and being baited/browbeaten into blowing up, breaking the rules, and getting Banned.
The Usuals want reassurance. They don’t always get it IRL - Republicans win elections and court cases. They want, therefore, to get it here.

I’ve been impressed by Doper mind reading abilities for many years, but I’m continually disappointed that Doper psychics like Shodan never seem to use their powers for anything but revealing the crippling inferiority of liberals.
I believe that he would arouse a lot less ire if he were a more honest debater. I’ll allow that there is partisan feeling as well, but I, at least, find him incredibly frustrating to deal with because of his behavior not because of his politics. I don’t have the same problem with other conservatives on the Board, including yourself.
Shodan wouldn’t know an honest debate if it bit him in the ass. He provides cites that don’t show what he claims they do (never quoting the useful part of the cite) and sometimes just vomits out a bunch of cites, never bothering to quote anything useful. The two cites I followed up on were bullshit. That’s if he provides any – usually, he just drops a sarcastic libs-are-stoopid rant into an otherwise useful conversation.
HD can sometimes be useful in a back-and-forth, but if things start to go against him, he just fades away.

That’s the difference between you and HD, though. You’re politically conservative, but you also post in Cafe Society and MPSIMS about non-political stuff. And you have a sense of humor - I’ve seen you indulge in self-deprecation. While I think you’re usually wrong (about politics, anyway), I don’t think you participate in this board just to flame the liberals.
Hurricane Ditka, on the other hand… Well, he raised a valid point - or, at least, a point worthy of discussion - in a thread about New Zealand’s government censoring the livestream of the Christchurch mosque massacre. But he also took the opportunity to call New Zealand a “tyrannical shithole”. That’s when I decided he was just a troll and not worthy of interaction. Chickenshit, too, since he won’t come to the Pit to attack his critics or defend himself.
