And yes I am aware of the correlation between animal abuse and sociopathy. I’m also aware of the correlation between fire-starting and sociopathy, bed-wetting and sociopathy, and alcoholism and sociopathy.
So far, we have DC making rude jokes about animals.
Sorry - calling him a sociopath may be satisfying, but implying that he’s responsible for murders in Idaho is WAAAAY over the top.
And actually, I know quite a bit about psychology myself. Really.
Hmm, I thought I read earlier in the post he found it interesting to watch a kitten he had stepped on die (not sure if it did die). I think that’s WAAAYYY over the top in terms of normal human emotion/behavior.
Of course he didn’t murder anyone. I simply feel that people who don’t like/love animals should simply ignore them, as opposed to abusing them or laughing at other’s pain, as he did in your case.
Animal abuse is one of my hot buttons. It is what it is.

And my suggestions are quite effective too- just look at how everyone views me now! Although, I should have went with a bad German accent instead of an English one; bad German accents are way more Evil sounding.
I was kidding about the animals. I would never kick a puppy. Dogs are just too useful of animals to harm like that; abuse makes them hard to train properly. And cats are no good for rodent catching when you squish them. Plus some of the little buggers are pretty cute.
DC is often funny, but what he said in AinW’s thread was horrible. I guess it was an attempt at humor (what does the NELSON voice mean?) but come on DC you missed the mark by a mile, and came off looking a jerk. Be a decent chap, suck it up, and appologise nicely to Alice in that thread.
Yes, I think that DC’s post was not really him laughing at the death of the bird- but was really a unfunny, misguided & tasteless attempt at humor. He is not really cruel…OTOH, he is not funny at all.
There was an apology, altho it seemed to lack sincerity, and I think that was due to the fact he thought we should have “figgered it” was a joke, and responded that way.
Note to DC- everyone also hates Nelson, so think about it.
Okay, I now get the Simpson’s reference and how it could be humorous. The reason it’s not funny when you say it, DC, is that real people are posting here. Not cartoons.
I don’t think you’re sociopathic. I do think that you don’t yet have an adult awareness of what other people feel.
I feel the need to comment here, since I stated that DC exhibited a sociopathic trait.
I did NOT make that comment based on his HAHA! post related to Alice’s bird dying. He was simply being very insensitive and boorish in that case.

Don’t worry, its not a big deal. I remember stepping on one of my sister’s cats kittens about 2 years ago, had to watch the thing hack up lots of blood. Actually, it was kinda interesting to watch.
Certified psychologists in the house? Give me your thoughts on those statements. If it’s a joke, I’m not laughing. DC has already responded on this thread that he is not a bad guy when it comes to animals – and I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt given the fact that he’s young (I’m assuming that from FranticMad’s comments).
I find it interesting that this poster has been called every obscene name in the book, and been asked to screw himself in every possible way – he’s been called a lot worse than a sociopath, in my opinion. So now we let him show us his good side.

If the event with the kitten really happened then my guess is that he’s: (a) traumatized and horrified, but doesn’t know how to say so, except in so-called humor, (maybe he’s got Asperger’s syndrome, or has emotionally repressive parents); or he’s (b) sadistic and wacko.
It’s hard to say from this medium. Maybe he could respond.
I’m with Blonde. I got the sociopath vibe when I read that kitten post too. That kind of behavior, as described, would indicate a certain sadism and lack of empathy. If he just made it up it, it still indicates a basic disconnection with how normal people think. He shows an emotional tin ear both by the content of the post and the context of it.
That’s not to say that Cthulu is necessarily a sociopath as opposed to just a witless asshole, but that kitten post is the kind of thing a sociopath would say.
BTW, sociopaths aren’t necessarily violent. Many of them can be quite functional (Oliver North, for instance). A lot of them are superficially charming, but are also controlling, self-obsessed assholes when you get to know them close up.
I’m thinking that this whole “sociopath” theme is being thrown around a little too much here. This is not to say it is entirely without merit or that concern is unjustified.
What I will say is this; Whatever apologies or explanations that were tendered have been nothing short of completely inffectual. DC, if you have a shred of self-respect and any regard for others at these boards, I’d strongly recommend that you consider making some sort of sincere accounting for yourself and your actions. You are under no compulsion to apologize whatsoever. Neither are you obliged to explain yourself or your reasons for acting in the way that you have.
By the same token, none of us at these boards are obligated to have a single fucking iota of respect, worry or sympathy for you in the future. Were I in your shoes, I would have already shown a Hell of a lot more contrition for what you’ve done. Then again, I can’t imagine ever being the sort of heartless bastard you’ve come across as.
Neglecting to follow my advice will probably result in permanent impairment of your credibility with many people at these boards. I would also not be surprised if just as many people were completely unable to feel much concern should something horrible befall you. I am far from being any sort of arbiter of conduct at these boards. Goodness knows that others have found my behavior offensive in the past. However, I’d also like to think that I have never gone so far beyond the pale in quite the fashion you have here.
For Og’s sake… first of all, DreadCthulhu, get your head out of your ass and if you can’t find it in whatever you use for a heart to offer an apology at least lay of the (half)“witty” comments. If you shoot yourself in the foot, hey, it happens, but there is no need to reload.
Secondly, I am amazed at the ability of random people on a message board to diagnose a condition that puzzles and causes major arguments among a recognized branch of the medical profession. Let’s just stick with asshole, since sociopathy is somewhat more complicated.
