Hey you slackers, how come I’m the one starting this? I’m the only one who isn’t suffering through the time change.
@purplehorseshoe come on over this way, both of us lost track of time tonight!
WANT.
NO! Not happening! Never in my creamery.
I could make brownies and cover them with a thick layer of blue colored cream cheese icing sprinkled with glitter. I like to toss a cup of white chocolate chips in the batter and of course they will have chopped walnuts.
Those of us in Europe have two more weeks before we suffer. So you’re not alone in your suffering this week.
I could surive the nuts, but white chocolate? Blergh.
Now I’m wondering if the blue coloring would be enough to cause colorful aftereffects.
Have the day off today, plus tomorrow as well. Going to go out the door and take a train to the big French-speaking city (Geneva) and enjoy the weirdly warm weather. Most of Saturday’s snowfall is gone, but the snowsnail built by the neighbor kid is still around. The snowsnail is adorable.
Should go get dressed for going out. Have a gorgeous Monday!
I can assure you, the human digestive system doesn’t really break down blue dye effectively. Enough of it, and the - ah - after results come out a brilliant green color.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘‘Tis 54 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 67 and mostly N.O.S. Low temps will get down in the 30s a couple of days this week. We’ll freeze! No biggie plans at all today which is fine by me. I have had to be out of da cave and in acceptable attire for the past five days. There is nowhere we either need or want to be today, so we shall be slothful hermits. Slept good last night. Even pulled an all nighter, not wakin’ up even once to have to go pee! I took a smallish spiral cut ham outta da freezer and its been thawin’ in da fridge for a couple of days. So, baked ham, green beans, scalloped N.O.T., roasted baby carrots, and rolls shall be sup this evenin’. Plus we shall have ham 'n N.O.T. soup one night and there will be ham sammiches. We like ham.
I do not want any glittery food. That is just wrong!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Despite how tahred I was last night, it was still after midnight before I fell asleep, and I was up right before 7, which, thanks to the stoopit time change, was still almost dark blech. Then I came into the kitchen to a pile of semi-dried cat hork - at least it was on the tile…
So, how’s your morning starting?
It’s rainy here, and it’s supposed to continue on and off all day. I have a few things I want/need to get done, and Daughter and SIL are supposed to be borrowing the truck to take the babby stuff to the consignment store. FCD will probably go to the boat to finish what he started yesterday. And I’m thinking I may make a couple of quiches today - some for supper, some for the freezer. We’ll see how much actually gets done.
Mornin, all! The week looks to be messy. The museum clients are coming for a visit Firday, I need to do a 2 hour drive to get materials, figure out how to plan in saving the musical for a day, and we’re supposed to get a 2-day snowstorm. Huzzah.
Ripple goes to the vet at 820, he needs stitches.
Cerby is most likely going later to be put down. I sent an email to a vet who rescues and rehabilitates Aussies, so we will give some time to see if we hear back from her.
I really want to see if taking him off Trazodone will make a difference, but as my son says, when do we trust him enough to let him off leash or out of the crate? Today he tried to rush at Ripple, but he was leashed and couldn’t. However, he was being friendly not aggressive.
Even with my son at home, it’s hard to keep them separated.
Nellie, there is a lot of conflicting information about Trazodone out there. Causing aggression is rare, but it does happen.
The day dawned slightly foggy, but otherwise clear & warm. Now a bit after 9am on the clock the sun is up, the fog is gone, and it’s shaping up to be a lovely day.
I’ll be off today through Wed, and probably working Thu through at least some of the weekend. Big tasks for today are take the car to the car wash and take the wife to the fancy grocery store for some oddball breed peppers and fresh herbs for something delicious she wants to make.
A couple weeks a go I cleverly misplaced my hearing aids someplace in the USA. Tomorrow I get to go the audiologist, get a full exam, and pay full retail for a new pair. No, they’re not insurable; I checked.
Other than that this bodes good for a lazy day of semi-retirement.
Oh yeah, they’re testing the fire alarm in our building today so we’ll be periodically interrupted by blaring PAs and irritating siren-like sounds. Not so bad overall.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/51f with a predicted high of 11annabitc/52f, and rain showers. Weather app says “I’m sorry to tell you that is is going to rain on your fucking nachos. Or maybe I’m not sorry.” We had a weather warning for gusty winds and possibly danger to high-sided vehicles. It’s best described as what the Scots refer to as “blowy as fuck”.
DST annoys me too, mainly because I have to remember how to change the clock in my car. I am on the same track as Dicey, we don’t change our clocks until the end of the month so we’ll be going through all this trauma again.
I had a busy weekend, rounded off with a migraine yesterday so I spent a large part of the day in bed waiting for the headache and nausea to pass. It did, eventually, but I felt like a limp dishrag all day and then I couldn’t sleep last night either.
We have a new starter in the office today, my boss was meant to be coming in to supervise everything but she called in sick at 7am so I’ve had to do it all. Newbie’s not in my line management either, so there’s a limit to what I can help her with. Her actual line manager is working from home on a phased return from sickness absence so she’s not around to do much either. Is it too early to start telling them they’ll miss me when I’m gone?
< choke > You have my sympathies on this. When FIL’s hearing aids disappeared, full-scale panic ensued. Fortunately, MIL found them crammed into the bottom of a ceramic figurine (thanks to dementia…) MIL held on to them after FIL died, since BIL has some hearing loss. Not sure if they’d help him or not, but even if no one needs them, they cost $$$ so MIL is loathe to toss them.
SIL texted to ask that we meet him at the car guy shop - his vehicle has a check engine light, plus it’s gone thru 3 headlights in the last 2-3 years, which is nuts! He got pulled over for the headlight, so he’ll have that looked into. And he’s taken all the babby stuff out of my garage, so yay!
Poor Tobias was sick this weekend - I need to find out how he’s doing, since he was sleeping when SIL left to come here. (Daughter is off today - they didn’t leave a sick toddler home alone!)
I also need to call Southwest Airlines and find out how they deal with elderly, nearly-blind, wheelchair-bound passengers. MIL is terrified that her flight may be diverted and she’ll be stuck somewhere without family to help. I swear, that woman loves to fret! But I’ll get her the answers that I hope will help her relax. I pity the flight attendants on her flights - she’ll make them crazy!!
Dishwasher is sloshing, sheets are in the washer, and I refilled the pellet stove. Lessee, what next???
Morning all. Slept in to 8:15am cause’ I’m retired and can do things like that. Need to do my shopping-n-sammich run here in a bit and then call the fence people (they said it would be a couple days and it has been…). Swimmin’-n-Sauna are also on the schedule, it’s only getting to 53F today but no rain to be seen. Kid’s soccer is due to start next week, so that will keep me busy.
I’ll eat all the Walnuts that get left over, shoe.
FCM, I’m sure the stewardesses have dealt with nervous flyers before; just hope there isn;t any heavy turbulence on her flight.
boo fae, migraines are not fun; hope today’s work isn’t too stressful.
Flyboy, I need to get an appointment with an audiologist (thanks, now I know what they are called) since my hearing seems to be getting worse.
OK, time to get dressed more or less presentably and head out to Jimmy John’s and Kroger. All y’all take care.
I decided to gather up all the loose change in the house and the vehicles and I took it to the money-counter at our credit union. Made a deposit of $26.42!! Cha-ching!!!
Then I ran into Walgreens and got a luggage tag to put on MIL’s wheelchair. I thought we had some old ones around the house, but apparently they’ve been tossed or just lost. So she’s getting a shiny new, bright pink tag.
SIL’s car needs some repair$ and they asked if we’d pay and they can pay us back. How do you make someone see that periodic maintenance is cheaper than waiting for the Check Engine light to come on? They let their vehicles go along till they absolutely have to take them in, then they’re hit with big bill$! Penny wise, pound foolish…
Meanwhile, dishes are clean, first load is out of the dryer and second load is drying right now. I’m just finishing my lunch. I need to fold the sheets, then empty the dishwasher. Then cut up the ham for the quiche. And probably other stuff.
Lovely sunrise this morning and a blue sky, which is nice after the snowy days. Letting some fresh air into the apartment at the moment. We were able to do an exercise class today for the first time since the shutdown for covid cases in the building. Nearly killed me, it did, but I’m glad we’re resuming normal activities.
No sooner had I submitted that post than the blaring began in earnest. I got my work earplugs and wore them for the next hour or so as we intermittently had these nasty interruptions.
The deafer and more tinnitus-ridden I get the more loud noises annoy me and/or are actually mildly painful. This is not a disability I’d wish on anyone.
IMO it is never too late to get religion about hearing protection. And it’s probably not too early to get an appropriate hearing exam and if necessary, aids. If you’d benefit from them you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the difference. Although probably not pleasantly surprised at their price.
