DST in the MMP

Good thoughts for Ripple. The second time one of my mother’s dogs bit, she had to be put down. She was my favorite of the rescue greyhounds.

It looks grey out there, but a massage punctuates my errands and tasks, which is motivating. I’m still having post-COVID fatigue from earlier this winter so I’m not getting big physical tasks done (like moving everything away from the windows for the Window Guys), but instead suddenly becoming too exhausted to stay awake. My PCP covertly suggested a stimulant, but I really don’t want to kick up my metabolism.

Just finished a Vegemite/margarine/sharp cheddar on toast sandwich for breakfast. Mrs. L.A. said, ‘That smells good. What’s on your sandwich?’ I told her. I’m sure she wouldn’t like it. But I do.

Margarine?!?

So they had to shutdown Smalls early, to send a bunch of us to the Sort Aisle to finish the last couple of trucks. But between that, and me being about the only person there who knew how to address correct, I made decent hours for a Monday.

I can’t believe it’s not butter!

{{{{sari}}}}

Yes. So sue me.

Blessed Day Off today. I have crap I really should attend to completing, but frankly, I just wanna nap.

I do have a tiny pot roast simmering away in my tiny slow cooker, so at least my home smells nice.

It’s snowing so of course, Monkey has cabin fever and is alternating between snuggling and howling at the side door.

My mother is trying to make nice and bought me some massage boots. They are fabulous and I will happily share the Amazon link if anyone is interested.
The hilarious part is that they come with many warnings, including not to use them “if menstruating” which is just so WTF like how is that relevant to something on my feet?

Oh, my darling, I am so sorry you’re going through all this.

ETA: @Johnny_L.A consider yourself served.

Hi gang!

A while back I decided I just didn’t have the bandwidth to keep up with the MMP that week, so I sat it out. A week became two, two became a month, and so forth. Lately I’ve been missing you guys, so here I am again.

In the meantime, Mrs W and I have officially moved to our new house in Henderson. It’s great, but we’re hardly settled in. We closed in early February; we fully moved in on March 1… and I tested positive for COVID on March 4. It hit me like 16 tons of bricks for a couple days and has progressed non-linearly since then. I feel much better now save for a bit of snottiness, but still testing positive as of last night.

So the missus is doing most of the heavy lifting as far as unpacking and putting stuff away. I try to help, but I’m fairly useless. I’ll, say, put up a towel rack, and then I’m exhausted for the rest of the day.

Of course, I had to quit my job at the zoo, which was hard. I’ve got a couple possible part-time options on the burner, but those are on hold for the moment as well. Eventually I know I’ll have a life here, but I don’t yet.

FCM, so sorry to hear that FIL has passed. Even though it wasn’t a surprise, it’s certainly difficult.

Sari, also sad about Cerby. I’m sure you’ve done all you can to help him.

The rest of you, I hope to stick around and catch up on what’s going on with you. Keep Calm and MMP on!

I’m so sorry about Cerby, Sari. And glad you’re feeling better-ish, Wheelz; hope the test is negative soon.

DST is kicking my butt. So is the fact that I stayed up until 1 a.m. last night thinking, “Oh, well, it’s ONLY X time for my body! I’ll be fine!” Dumber words were never thought.

Work is hard today. I’m tired and crabby and tomorrow can’t come soon enough (I’ve taken the day off and told no one but my husband). I also have the sweetest, most exuberant new employee who is working on something for someone I promoted and the promotee is out. So said exuberant young employee keeps IM’ing me with questions and scheduling calls with me to go through her questions on the phone after I answer them. Or excitedly IM’ing me and asking if I can chat for a few minutes. I don’t wanna, dammit. Instead I would like to pass out on my keyboard like the degernate I am.

Hope ya’ll have a good day today.

Seems like a good time to not have your hearing aids.

I’m sure you’re all well acquainted with my semi-annual “standard, daylight, split the difference, pick something else altogether, I don’t care, just pick something and STICK WITH IT!!!” rant.

Rainy here, another atmospheric river due in tonight/tomorrow, possibility of thunderstorms this afternoon. Yay.

Buddy had lobbied to go outside during a break in the rain yesterday. Not long after he went, MAJOR downpour. Once the rain eased up a bit, he wanted back in NOW. Don’t blame him.

Why do you need to be involved in this? Can’t he handle it on his own?

Yeah, that one has me stumped too. Sounds like whoever wrote that has a really shaky understanding of anatomy.

Which rant is being actively pursued by the usual suspects in two forums right now:

and

I understand that one may continue to test positive even after recovering, because of whatever remains in the system. Not that I have any medical experience or knowledge, but you may well be past it. Hope so - just don’t push too hard to recover.

They needed our truck today - that was already planned. So meeting him at the shop wasn’t a big deal. Especially since the shop is just a few miles from us. I don’t see this as an inconvenience, other than I was in my fuzzy robe when he texted…

Laundry is done, dishwasher is empty, and I pulled the rolled-up pie crusts out of the fridge to come to room temp. In about 20 minutes or so, I’ll start prepping all the ingredients for the quiche: cutting the ham, shredding the cheese, sautéing the onions and mushrooms, whatever else. I’ll make 2, then freeze most, since we typically have one slice each for supper.

Haven’t heard from FCD for a while but I don’t want to call if he’s crammed into a tight space in the engine room. Then again, if his stuck in a tight space… dammit, I hate when he does stuff like this alone. I won’t panic yet.

For now, tho, back to my book for a while.

Afternoon all. Just a quick visit before heading off for swimming and sauna this afternoon. Shopping is done and the Jersey Mike’s #3 is happily digesting. Still only 52F outside, this is Spring Break week for the schools so no extra traffic. They are doing a soccer clinic (loosely associated with my league) so might wander past there sometime this week to see if I can pick up any ideas.

FCM, enjoy quiching. Hope FCD gives you a call soon. And that is a lot of change, was some of it dollar bills, because $26 in coins is amazing.

Seanette, I remember those rants…to me it’s no big deal anymore.

talkie, had those kinda days myself at work, but I imagine you’ll help the youngster out because you’re that type of person.

Wheelie!!!, welcome back, happy you are moved in and sad you have The Bug. Get feeling better soon and hope some jobs become available in the near future.

{Checks onboard internal plumbing} Ah nope, can;t help you with that at all…

OK, need to put on the bathing suit and be off to do laps. Take care all.

:people_hugging:

I’m sorry. Does cultured yogurt help?

You can’t. I’ve tried with different people over the years and you just cannot do it. It’s like they have a blind spot when it comes to vehicle maintenance because these were the same people who spent most of their free time working on their homes. No leaning fences for them, it’s much cheaper to fix a saggy fence than put in a new one.

I’ve made an other dozen butter shamrocks and the cream cheese is hanging. After hubs is done bottling beer, I’ll get the sheets started. You have to go through the kitchen to get to the laundry nook and he’s got stuff all over. It’s so nice to be retired and have all of the time in the world to do these sort of routine chores.

It was all coin. Once we had better than $70 in coin, but since we rarely use cash now…

FCD returned home and is currently in chill mode. I’m about to head to the kitchen. It’s cold and dreary. I’m ready for spring.

I agree!

Thanks for reminding me – need to move mine to the dryer and start the next load!

Can I make a suggestion? I think it would be helpful if whoever starts the new MMP would go back to the previous week’s and post a link to the new one.

So today is annual inspection day, when a team comes through to inspect apartments. I intended to shower this morning, but my sister called, and as always, we talked over an hour. By that time, inspection start time was at hand, so I waited until noon, thinking they’d take a lunch break. I was rinsing my hair when I got startled by a knock on the bathroom door. Figuring Norman Bates probably wouldn’t knock, I called, “I’m in the shower!” and a male voice answered, “We’ll get out of here then.” Does that mean they need to return?

I’m heading to the optometrist late this afternoon for what will probably be a waste of time, but what the heck.

The itching is definitely better. I’m going to try reducing the extra-extra antihistamines. Shot day is Wednesday.

{{{{{Sari}}}}}

Where’s the last state you looked?

I got a migraine yesterday, too. I think it had to do with the time change and getting too busy to remember to eat.

Am small. Can confirm we get shut down all the time.

Sounds chill.

doggio, should you grow those terriers, I may be looking into getting Nelson a little brother.

Welcome back wheelie!

I’m sorry about Cerby sari. You’ve gone above and beyond to help him.

You have my sympathies on the allergies nellie

I left irk after 3.5 hours this morning and went for a breathing treatment. I’ll go back Friday for another allergy shot. Right now, I’m thinking 2-3 more weeks untill the trees wrap up their annual orgy. Til then, I’ll be miserable.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! Been a day of chill here at da cave although I did bake a ham and fix sup which we et early. OYKW handled post sup clean up. He is useful on occasion. Nappage and day drinkin’ were also accomplished.

MOOOOOOM cool on the kaching! There’s probably a fair amount of loose change around da cave. Maybe one day we’ll bother to find out. Probably won’t be a huge amount as we are mostly cashless in our spendin’.

Wheelie welcome back. Glad y’all are moved in the new digs. Hope you’re all over the plague soonest.

sari so sorry about Cerby, but you have to do what’s best for him and the household.

Before moving, I gathered all the coins in the house from various piggy banks, plastic bags, vases, etc., and went to a CoinStar machine at the grocery store. $231.94! If you take it as an Amazon gift card, there is no fee. And that money has long since been spent.

BIL had a plastic pitcher full of coins and some paper money. When he moved here, he got an account at our credit union, then used their machine for his coinage. Including the paper, he had over $700!!! I can’t wrap my head around having that much money just lying around.

The quiche was yummmmm! There’s enough left over for a couple more meals - it makes a quick and easy breakfast.

We’re thinking about going back to the ocean when Daughter is on spring break. I’m starting the investigation…
