DST in the MMP

And a good early evening to all. Finally went to the gym, but as I got to the desk and went to get my membership card, I noticed one of my credit cards was missing! Fortunately I had last used it yesterday at Red Robin (still had the receipt in my billfold) and looking back their at-the-table machines are rather clumsy and the card is well-hidden, so I suspected I had left it there. So went back to the restaurant and sure enough, it had been turned in, so it’s now back in my pocket. Did get to the gym later than usual and the scale shows 263lbs even, so my weight is still heading in the right direction. Cooler now and supposed to get below freezing tonight, so the Rat will remain inside tonight. Have already dined on a WhataBurger for dinner.

FCM, Wheelie, I still use cash more than most folks do these days, but I never leave those amounts floating around the house…occasionally I’ll get $2-3 in change in my pockets, but a couple of exact-change purchases usually takes care of that. When my Mom pased away we found nearly $1,100 in various envelopes where she had plans to use it, but never did.

red, hoping the allergies abate soon.

nellie, no one expects the Noontime Inspection!!!

Herald, that’s not a bad suggestion, but most folks know to look for the new one Moanday morning…but given that it’s Moanday morning we’re talking about, your idea does have merit…

OK, dinner is digesting and mail has been disposed of, so a night of sloth is on tap. Everyone have a good night/morning now.

Texas. Unfortunately, it’s a big place and so I only finished a little bit of it before I had to go. Rats!

I think I mentioned this, but the inlaws had something like $5K hidden behind a shelf in their house in Fl. FCD persuaded them to put most of it in the bank. A little house fire would have toasted their treasures.

We’re booked for 3 nights at the ocean right after Easter. Here’s hoping we get the room up high again!

So, today was not the day.

I put out some feelers to some rescues that are willing to rehabilitate dogs.
Like my son says, we are delaying the inevitable.
Cerby’s confused because he is not allowed off leash in the house. He’s behaving though.
I hope one of the rescues come through for us.
Right now he is laying under my chair, or as much of him that can fit under there.

I look at Ripple and know we have no choice. I look at Cerby and feel like I’ve failed him.
Life would be a lot easier if people and animals came with reset buttons.
I feel like he never had a chance and my dumb ass sister should have known better.
And like my son said, he has come so far in 4 months, just to throw it all away in one week.
I talked with Niece1’s ex yesterday, and he said the three of them made bad decisions and left it to me and him to clean up the mess.
I’ve spent a good chunk of my life cleaning up behind my sister, the ungrateful bitch.

Ripple did well at the vet. He needed to be muzzled but I sat at his head and pet him. He needed some staples.

I guess I am one of the few that DST doesn’t bother too much. There are only two clocks in the house that need changing, the stove and microwave. My truck is easy to change.
I have a new watch and I cannot figure out how to change the time, or show the weather. The manual is a little tiny book, with teeny tiny print that I can’t read. I tried looking it up online and, well… I’ll get my son to look at it.
I am exhausted though, lack of sleep from Cerby, and last night Ripple was panting because my bedroom gets ungodly hot when I close the door. Cerby was outside the door whining. My son was up so I asked him to turn down the heat, and then I kept waking up from being cold. Ripple was sleeping soundly.

I watch Girl with the Dogs MetalMouse. She has a second channel with longer videos.

My father used to save pennies. He had jars of them all over their bedroom. After he died, my grandfather started rolling the pennies, then he would split the rolls between my nieces’ accounts. He stopped counting at $300. I was pretty sure my father was responsible for the penny shortage.

I saw one of those house cleaning shows years ago. I can’t remember which one. She had over $5000 laying around her apartment. She was a welder I think, and made good money, and would come home and throw whatever money was in her pockets on the floor.
I don’t keep mu cash around, I’m always afraid of it burning up.

Glad your itching is getting better Nellie

Sorry about the allergies Red

Hope you feel better soon Wheelie

I didn’t get much done today. A little laundry. I have a spiral ham I wanted to put in the oven, but that didn’t happen.

I need to fix the dogs their dinner, and since Adam is in, fix a little for him too.
My son is cussing because Cerby is getting on his nerves. I hope we hear something tomorrow.

Took roomie to PT after work, then napped. Had burgers with an Old Fashioned.

Sue me!
Sue you!
Sue!
Sue!

Good advice, if you go commando during Auntie Flo’s visits.

As a long being, I am here for you.

You didn’t. You did all you could. {{{{sari}}}}

I have a Pfaltzgraff Yorktown tea canister almost full of change. It is a one quart container. I don’t really use cash very often so it is slow to fill. At the bottom is a post it note with the date and amount from the last time I took it to the bank

Back from the eye clinic. The bus on the way there obviously had the Mood-o-Meter set at Maximum Grump. First, this man started yelling at a skinny woman. She got off and told the bus terminal cops that the guy threatened her. That catapulted Mrs. Yeller off the bus to scream that the woman was a lying #$@&!. The Yellers left, and Skinny re-boarded. Then another woman yelled at Skinny, “Quit spitting on me!” Skinny said, "I’m not spitting at you. Please leave me alone."Spitty huffed off to a different seat. The bus pulled out. Two blocks later, the Yellers re-boarded but sat toward the front. We were now late, so the driver went fast and slammed on the brakes often. Fun times. I blame the time change.

The optometrist was very nice. She explained why glasses are not an option for me. I go back in a month to try some contacts I’ve tried before. Maybe this time…

Sari, scritches to Ripple for being such a good boy. He shouldn’t have to live in fear. I hope the rescue group comes through for Cerby. Would they keep him long-term?

“I have always relied on the kindness of giants.” Blanche DuBois, A Yardstick Named Desire.

I do as well. I know this is breaking your heart and it is just not fair. I’m not a dog expert by any means but from what I know about the breed, the poor dog got broken by ignorant people and that is really hard to fix.

I have an imitation Native American pot that I happen to know holds $240 +/- $15 in change. We didn’t go cashless until the world ended. When the change shortage happened and all of the stores were begging for exact change, we couldn’t take it to the bank for some reason or other and I bagged in 10 dollar bags to hand out to panhandlers. It’s about half full now, we have gone all plastic now and it’s rare for either of us to have pocket change anymore.

When Hubs was cleaning out his parent’s house, he found almost 10 grand and we are both sure there was more he didn’t find. That doesn’t count the 20 grand in cash that his mother gave him right before she died.

Despite being cashless, we still have a couple of thousand in the safe, the pot and our wallets. Meh, it’s better than last year when we had 10 grand in the safe. At least most of that is in an interest bearing account now.

GG has been a PITA today. He knows there is gushy cheese in the hobby room and he tries to sneak in every time the door was opened. He’s not very good at being sneaky because he gives us a running commentary as he’s looking around.

I have 10 dozen butter shamrocks finished, all I need to do is make 24 more and then I’m throwing that mold in the garbage. (Well, actually putting it up on Nextdoor for someone to come and get, but it is no longer welcome in my house.)

The weather has been really nice and we now have five hummingbirds hanging around. We only had a pair overwinter, so unless the new ones are their fledglings, the migration has started. I’ll put another feeder out when we start seeing more.

The little guy (6 years old, maybe, he started school last year) across the street was out trying to fly a kite and I turned into a nosy neighbor. The kite didn’t have a tail and the poor boy was getting pretty frustrated. I grabbed a ratty tea towel and made a tail for the kite, then went out and fixed the kite and showed the little guy how to make it fly.

Then I came home and bitched to the cats about it because I could see his parents in the living room, smoking weed and playing a game on their big screen TV instead of teaching their only child to fly a kite. Of course, I was smoking weed while I was bitching to the cats, but that’s different.

I keep hearing that something is going to happen because ain’t nobody happy ATM, including those of use who are only annoyed because you folks are making us think about what time it is.

“As a tall person I cannot offer to reach something on a high shelf for a stranger, yet if they ask me I must oblige. This is the law of the giants”

nellie, haven’t ridden a bus in a long time (public transportation in N. Ali-bama is virtually non-existent). But quite a story.

And looks like bedtime approaches; take care all.

my step grandpa before he married grandma collected change for years by just tossing it in whatever container was handy and over 20 years he had a stack of them if he needed any he just grab a handful or two and go on his way

Well grandma convinced him after we moved in that we needed ot go somewhere nice for summer vacation so he cashed it in and had 2200 dollars and it paid for us to go on vacation at Disneyworld … well the magic kingdom part anyways …

As a short being, I am quite pleased to retrieve objects from low shelves in exchange for the assistance of long beings with high shelves.

I’m one of the tallest people at my job. (Do people in Michigan not feed their children?) I am also blessed to have good knees (crap joints HA! everywhere else) so I often retrieve things off low shelves, and sometimes off high (Ha!) shelves.

Yes, I hit my pen when I’m hidden in the walk-in. I also curse like a sailor back there (the mushrooms don’t care.) But I clamber onto shelves to get stuff the shorties can’t reach, and I’m happy to do so.

Even though I’m - since that guy walked off mid shift - now officially the oldest person there, and feel decrepit most days, and heavy things are heavy (cheese tubs, I’m glaring at you) I’m still always happy to help.

Certain shifts, I look at who I’m working with, and say, "The ‘My Back Hurts’ Committee is now in session!’

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave

Awake ahead of my alarm, of course. When it goes off at 5:30, it’ll be a mad rush to get out of here by 6. Pick up MIL at 6:30, get the toddler next, then head to BWI. Her flight is at 10, assuming there are no delays, so we should get home before 12. I hope…

Yeah, fun day ahead.

Happy Tuesday. Happy pi day, too.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 42 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 59 and N.O.S. for the day. So, a chilly day for us. Laundry is the big item on today’s agenda. I am so thrilled. Other than that high sloth and general overall uselessness shall prevail. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy. Since it’s pi day and we do have frozen pie crusts, maybe a pie needs to get made. HMMMM…

sari hope a rescue group comes through for Cerby.

I am an average bein’, neither long or short, so I get along as best I can.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday and Pi Day Y’all!

Up and feeding. Unclear what the day holds. We are under a winter weather warning today, and the high school is closed, so I think no saving the musical today. But I got a rousing 1/2" of snow overnight. I may go to the shop and do some good.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 35 degrees, dark, and mostly cloudy. The high will be 50 degrees and we will have partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies all day.

I hate DST and wish they would just make it law that we all stay on standard time. It makes me crabby, damn it.

sari, you have done so much more than other people would have done with Cerby. I really hope a rescue comes through for him.

I had a long and busy day yesterday. I was out the door at 4:15 am and down in Oly town by 5:00 am. My first stop was the local Haggen to pick up my morning yogurt and banana and some freshly baked donuts for my office mates. Fifteen minutes later I was at my office making coffee and going through my email. Lord o’ mercy! There was so much email! The day started with me diffusing controversy and fixing three different problems and progressed from there.

It’s a good thing that I get to the office at stupid thirty because a semi pulling double fuel tank trailers rolled over on I-5 southbound (my route to Oly town) and blocked all lanes not long after drove past that spot. The southbound lanes were closed for hours and were down to one lane as I drove back north at 3:30 that afternoon. One of my peers was caught in that mess and it took him 2.5 hours to through it. Everyone asks why I get down there so early and it’s because of stuff like that.

The corridor through there is difficult terrain and to avoid it, I would have had to drive more than additional 50 miles out of my way to get around the accident. It’s a sucktastic corridor.

Today will contain more problem-solving, record system clearing, and budgetary issues. I had to send an email to my bosses yesterday warning them that their continued conference attendance was wiping out a particular budget object class and I would need to start pulling funds from other BOCs to make up for it. I reminded them we have some large expenditures coming up in that particular BOC and that maybe we should start being selective about conference attendance. They’re probably not going to like that email, but it’s my job to be the honest broker. I also said that maybe only one of them needed to go.

I could not get up this morning and rolled out of bed later than I wanted to, so I need to finish my coffee and tidy the kitchen before I head upstairs to my WFH office.

I hope you all have a good day.

I absolutely love DST. The sun stays away in the morning, and hangs around longer in the evening … perfect!

I haz a slight blurf. 8:30 a.m. is way too early. I have perused the Dope for a bit, posted some silly posts, gotten jumped on by Monkey, and am going the hell back to bed.

See y’all later, at a reasonable hour e.g. past noon.

Morning all. Up at 0630, we’ll see if I make it through the day with out nappage. Have weather much like Taters, about 30F and only getting to 50F today, it will start warming up later this week, with rain predicted for Firday.

Taters, glad you missed that traffic nightmare; my last jobs had a variety of alternatives and wasn’t as far as yours, but yeah, one pileup in some places can make a real mess.

FCM, just out of curiosity (I am a big airplane geek), I looked at flight departures from BWI; Wow, Southwest really dominates that market, doesn’t it? Hope MIL has a smooth trip.

OK, need to break fast with some Instant Breakfast (Carnation now calls it Breakfast Essentials, but I knows what I knows…). Have a good 2sday all.

Oh, and Happy Pi Day!!!
