DST in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 52 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 76 with rain predicted for late afternoon/evenin’. We shall see. We shall go to the hog trough GC for N.O.L. and the main feed of the day. They will most likely have corned beast and cabbage. However, it won’t be as good as the corned beast and cabbage I made for the church folk last week. Not to brag, but I’ve had calls and texts from folks tellin’ me they really liked it, with a few even sayin’ it was the best corned beast they’d ever had. OK, that was a brag.

Nellie I feel for ya re the prednisone. I’ve only had to take it once after findin’ out I am allergic to sulfa drugs and it was for only five days, but I was beyond grumpy and grouchy the whole time and knew I was. I am glad it did the trick, however and hope it does for you as well. I can’t tolerate weed as well. I am pretty much a medicine wimp.

To all you filthy minded folk, I feel as if I am amongst my true people!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all! Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Erin Go Bragh!

Morning, mumpers! It’s 12c/53f with a predicted high of 13c/55f, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Asking someone to be positive about the weather is like asking them to smile more. It’s totally fucking annoying”. Actually, it’s a bit sunny outside and warm enough in the office to have a window open.

I had to come to campus today as we have only got two people in the office today. One’s part time and finishes just after lunch, and the other is a newbie who’s in her first week so they needed someone else here. My boss is still working 100% from home, and the other assistant manager is on a phased return so only doing 4 days a week. That meant it had to be me. And today is Cheltenham Gold Cup race day so all the horseracing idiots were on the trains early. To make things even more interesting, there was a rail strike yesterday so all the trains were starting later than normal. The rail app said the first train of the day from my station was 7.36am, which was a lie because that one didn’t run. I had to wait for the 7.48am local chuffer which was packed to the gills. Got to Big City Station and caught one of the trains that stops at the campus station but also goes via Cheltenham so a load of racegoing idiots were on there. Drunk. At 8.30am. Drunk to the point they had to be almost carried onto the train by their friends, who were also drinking beers that early. What a waste of a day (and the ticket costs), I bet they didn’t see much racing 'cos they were asleep all day.

nellie I am sorry about the Prednisone, I’ve had it before and not enjoyed the experience either.

flyboy That’s a very long trip to do by yourself, I hope you have plenty of stuff to listen to on the way.

hippie Another beautiful piece of work there!

sari that does sound like good news for Ripple, I hope he continues to improve.

Happy St Patrick’s Day to all the Irish and the Plastic Paddies!

That’s what we’ve got - didn’t know that’s what they’re called, tho. I’m always hyper aware when I get into the truck because I have visions of my foot slipping between the bar and the truck resulting in a broken leg! :open_mouth: Scary, but at least I can get into the doggone truck without pulling up a ladder!

I’d believe it! I swear that kid has 2 speeds - standby and FULL SPEED AHEAD!!! Except with Grandpa - he loves cuddling up on his lap in the recliner.

I am aghast… aghast, I say… to discover we have such pervs in the MMP!!!

I think we might have gone to a Fuddruckers once, maybe, which tells you how much of an impression it made on me. There are none in Merrylande, and the nearest one is in VA, about an hour anna half away (assuming no traffic… around DC… yeah, right…)

Regarding St. Pat’s Day, it was always the occasion to wear my Thank God I’m Polish button. My dad worked for a family-owned company where the mucky-mucks were all of Irish descent. Naturally, he’d pick this day to wear a blue suit and a red tie and the aforementioned button. He was a VP, so I guess it didn’t piss them off too much.

I’ve caffeinated, phase 1, and once FCD gets up, I’ll have my turn to shower and dress, and we’ll head out for breakfast, Lowe’s, and wherever we can get the battery for Daughter’s car. No telling how the day will go, but at least it’s supposed to be mild out.

Happy Firday!!

8 a.m. is way too freakin’ early to be awake. So naturally, here I am.

It finally stopped raining, so I treated myself to Timmy Horton for a breakfast snacker thingy, a box of donut holes (TimBits) and a 3x3 coffee for later.

Right now, I’m enjoying my massage boots and a bit of a joint. Then, it’ll be back to bed for me. I gotta work in a few hours, I need my rest!

I was so delighted when I discovered the 3x3 thing (3 cream, 3 sugar) it’s like Starbucks at a third of the price.

They have interesting lunch options, too, I need to remember that for my lunch breaks.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 31 degrees, dark and partly cloudy outside. The expected high is 60 and the day will vacillate between cloudy, sunny, and partly cloudy skies.

I have read all but retained only a little. It’s been a rough few days.

flyboy, I’m sorry about your aunt. Safe travels.

sari, I’m glad Cerby has found a third chance and that Ripple is fine.

I know we used to have some Fuddruckers restaurants up here, but I’ve never been and a google search shows me there aren’t any in the state at all anymore. Never been to Perkins or Waffle House either. There are a couple of Perkins on the eastern side of the state. When my Dad lived in Beaverton, OR, he used to like to take us there for breakfast. He liked the pies. Denny’s is absolutely horrible. How a restaurant can screw up eggs and bacon is beyond me. And honestly, most Denny’s smell like disappointment with a faint whiff of pee. Every single Denny’s I’ve been to is like that. Honestly, I’m just not a fan of any kind of chain restaurant. The food tastes processed and salty, and pretty much all the same.

nellie, I’m sorry you have to go back on the prednisone. I hope it does the job and that you don’t have to be on it very long.

boofae, I saw about Whisper on FB and offered my condolences. I am sorry, it’s just too soon.

Well, I know there is so much more to address, but I need to finish my coffee and head upstairs. I’ve got an awful day coming up and need to get some stuff done. I hope you all have a good day.

Gentle {{ huggzz }}

That cracked me up.

I think this is the appeal of chains - you pretty much know exactly what you’ll be getting no matter where you go. Eating out for the timid. Kinda like my sister - spent 2 weeks touring Poland and ate exclusively at McD’s… really…

I’m showered and dressed. FCD is getting tools from his shop and we’ll leave shortly for breakfast and other adventures.

Morning all. Up early at 6:30am for some reason, may mean nappage is in my future. Rain did show up last night and we’re due to get showers during the day, so just as well I did my shopping and stuff yesterday. Still plan to get to the gym for swimmin’-n-sauna, we’ll see how that goes.

FCM, I’m like your sister; very fussy and there hasn’t been a foreign country yet I haven’t found a McDonald’s in (the ones in Argentina have a much better menu than US places do). Still amazed I made it through 2 weeks in China without a Mickey D’s stop.

I AM NOT a perv!! Well, I occasionally look at things…or stuff.. ah hell, I give up…

shoe, never been to a Tim Hortons, none down here in Krispy Kreme Land, always wondered how they are.

Boo fae, glad you made it through the drunks. I’ve never understood why you pay a large amount of money to go somewhere for an event I presume you want to see and then get so snockered that you can’t possibly enjoy it. Weird.

swampy, if it’s somethng worth bragging about, go for it!!

nellie, best of luck with the itchiness. And I did drop my pants on my Great Antarctic Trip, they make you remove your belt at the TSA station and then walk through the detector and…I don’t think it was noticed (but that’s why as soon as I got home I bought 3 pairs of 44" waist slacks.

I did the exactly same thing…once I googled it I remembered him, but didn’t relate to the name at first.

For Great Justice (just because it needed to be said).

JtC, sobering information and interesting that you did kickboxing once upon a time. I’d send your housekeeper my seasick patches I didn;t use, but they are prescription-level and I don’t think that would be a good idea.

Sari, glad Ripple looks more his old self now. And keep after son and driving, he’s going to need that skill set sooner or later (and probably sooner).

OK, first load of laundry is done, need to get it into the dryer and get the last load working. All y’all have a good Firday now.

I’m Swedish and therefore don’t do St Patrick’s Day. I do however have a green T shirt with a cat wearing sunglasses. The caption is “you had me at shenanigans.” I’d wear it today except it’s freezing and the shirt is short sleeves.

Hugs to flyboy and boofae.

Cookie, you got to the toppermost of the poppermost and left? Why?

No, I’m not suffering, either. In fact, it benefits me! I commute west to east in the morning, and the sun was just about to break the horizon and start blinding me. Now, I gained a full hour on the morning sun, and it won’t harass me for at least another month or so.

I’m so sorry to hear about your losses, flyboy and boofae.

I’ve been avoiding being online lately. A friend of mine passed away from cancer Tuesday morning. She was just a year older than I am. It was lung cancer and she’d never smoked a day in her life. It wasn’t a surprise, though. Over the weekend, she asked that we take the rest of the week to start writing letters to her kiddos and husband with stories about her hijinks because she she’d been told she just had a few days. I’m so glad I knew her.

I’ll be taking overlyboy to get his driving test on Monday. I’ve got my fingers crossed - for me, the state trooper he’ll have riding with him and, of course. overlyboy himself. Today is his “back-a-versary,” also known as the anniversary of his surgery. We’re getting a cake - this time last year he asked for one, but felt pretty sick from the meds and couldn’t eat it. This year, he gets as much as he wants.

Off to work now. My brain is not in the best place today, so hopefully I’ll get to log off early.

I have my iPod and cassette adapter. It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have to drive through Oregon.

The corned beef is in the slow cooker.

Silence is golden - Proverb
Unless it’s the entire belt system - dogbutler
Might have had something to do with the cotter pin looking thing that came down the belt with a “taper bushing installation” tag on it by Sumitomo Drive Systems(they make the belt motors, but the name sounds sci-fi:
[Commercial Voice Over]“Sumitomo Drive Systems, A Wholly Owned Subsidiary of Weyland-Yutani. Weyland-Yutani, egging on human progress to the stars, one colony at a time”[/Commercial Voiceover])
Anyways, shredded wheat has been consumed, laundry is laundering, and it’s naptime.

I enjoyed getting snockered at Irish Kevin’s in Key West. I think.

Cancer sucks.

That’s encouraging news about Ripple sari

Moooooom, my first vehicle was a 1967 Chevy C20. While I had no issues getting in and out of it, due to an oil leak, I always checked the oil when I stopped for gas. The dipstick was located almost out of reach for me (I would have gotten engine crud on my clothes checking it), so I resorted to carrying a fold up step stool behind the seat. If I were to buy another pick up, I would definitely want running boards.

I’m sorry about your friend wordy.

Happy St. Patrick’s day!

The last time that I stopped at Denny’s was in Bowling Green, KY on the way home from visiting my dad some years back. I wasn’t impressed. Waffle House tended to be the place to be as part of the 3 AM crowd, but I actually met ruble and OW at the Bowling Green one (down the street from Denny’s). The last Huddle House I was in was in Scottsville, KY, but it closed a few years ago (can you tell that Bowling Green and Scottsville, KY were the usual meal stop on the way home from Dad’s? :stuck_out_tongue: ). OtOH, when I lived at the last apartment, CB headquarters was located there and I lived ~6 miles from the original one. They’re OK occasionally, but tend to be pretty carb intensive. It’s likely been over 30 years since I’ve been to a Bob Evans.

Up, caffeinating breakfasted, allergy shot / breathing treatment done, bed stripped and sheets / towels ready for the dryer. Now, I’m off to do houseirk.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Didn’t notice a Fuddruckers at Waikiki, but then I only went there once. Main thing I remember was how crowded the beach was – wondered how far I could walk in a straight line without stepping on someone. One real joy was finding a Farrell’s (another wonderful chain, which alas is now extinct) at the mall in Aiea.

Nothing involving home maintenance is simple. FCD and SIL had to go to Lowes for a hunk of brick molding. Whoever built the doorway into this house was insane.

So Tobias and I are chilling as we wait. He’s getting cranky - hoping we can get a nap soon…

A evening of sloth + an early bedtime (and clean sheets!) seems to have done the trick, and I’m feeling good today. I’m still glad that work is quiet, though…so far… :crossed_fingers: I have no plans tonight, which is more than fine with me. It’s rainy today (and will keep raining tonight), which is making Bailey pace a little, and I’m hoping she’ll settle down later once we’re both on the couch.

Right now, tomorrow’s plans only include a volunteer committee meeting from 11:00-1:00 (via Zoom). It won’t require much energy on my part, so yay. I might go out tomorrow night: there’s a showcase including two friends I try to support, but I don’t care for any of the others who will be performing. And while I generally like the venue, the service last time (three weeks ago) was pretty bad. I haven’t decided yet whether the effort/cost would be worth it; I probably won’t make that call until tomorrow afternoon.

It’s 1pm, and lunchtime! I’m looking forward to having the roast-beef-and-cheddar sandwich I bought yesterday. I also bought two cupcakes yesterday, one to have with lunch yesterday and one for today, but I wound up eating the second one last night. A banana and a chocolate chip oat bite will definitely suffice.

True!

An unexpected side effect of the weight loss is having zero idea of my current “league”: before, I could usually guess which men were likely to just be friendly vs actually flirting. Now, though, I never have any idea what’s going on.

My company allows 3 days of bereavement leave for an uncle, as well. It’s good that your boss reminded you of its availability! I’ll only be using 2 days for mine’s funeral next month.

Awww, shucks!

(I’m a picky bitch, though.)

Am I the only one amused that flyboy isn’t flying to CA?

Have fun on your trip, Flyboy. I’m sorry you don’t like driving in Orygun, I feel the same way about Seattle.

Hope Ripple is gonna be okay this time.

I lived for a short time pretty much across the street from a Fuddruckers. Went there once. The burgers were okay, but the place was noisy and chaotic and the service was iffy and slow. Never went back.
I lived in Eugene, Orygun for many years and they had a wonderful Farrells there. Went there many times, when I could still eat ice cream. I seem to remember that they had something called a ‘hog trough’ or somesuch. An overly large dish full of way too much ice cream sundae. It was impressive, but I never tried it. My inner 12 year old boy was tempted though.

I went to college in the 70s and naturally was introduced to pot at that time. I was unimpressed and haven’t indulged since. it just doesn’t do it for me. I do occasionally consider visiting a ‘dispensary’ to try some CBD for pain relief however. Maybe someday.

Wifey is going to get a shot in her hip on moonday to see if that does something for her pain thereabouts. I hope so.

I need to get organized to go to my haircut appointment. The only barber in this end of the county is about 15 minutes away. She’s okay, but Wifey doesn’t like how she cuts my hair, But otherwise I’d have to drive 45 minutes to someone else.

Lie is hard.

Well, there were zero parking places in that structure, so the choice was either go to the right and join the endless string of cars looking in the adjoining seven floored structure, or just get the hell outa Dodge. And hey, it was Prokofiev.

Alas, I can’t afford an airplane. (If I could, I’d rather have a helicopter.)
