I’d like to respond to this, as it was probably one of my two closed threads that the administrator opened to get the last word in that you’re thinking of. The first one I had a problem with, since he basically berated me for not being patient enough with them, when Ed came out with the big announcement roughly two hours after the thread was locked, so it certainly appeared that I was close on my estimate of how long an initial decision should be made.
The second one, the whole point of the thread was to find out what the hell he was thinking, so I was glad and grateful that he opened it to tell us, even if he had to leave it closed afterwards. Can’t really change a man’s mind in a case like that, any counterpoint wouldn’t have been productive.
My WAG - the 30 day suspension doesn’t matter. After the period is over, TD will show up and make an announcement that she’s stepping down from the admin position to devote herself to other duties for the Straight Dope. It will look humble, please those posters who don’t trust her, while not pising off her supporters by forcing her from the job. It will let the mods and admins continue on pleasant terms with her and help everything calm down. Thus, it’s politics, not justice. Remember - perception is reality.
And it is clear that the above-mentioned thread exists only for posters in that category. Those that Ike would never call crude names - no matter how many coding errors they made!

I would have got over it if he at least had been a gentleman and apologised for that gratuitous insult. I didn’t call him anything or say anything against him. As it is, it is just another example of the mods lack of respect for the opinions of ordinary members.

Obviously that was too much to expect from Ike - whose behavior was more like that of a school-yard bully than a moderator. Maybe Ike should join the Spongebob Squarepants message board as a mod. - he would probably find it easier to act as a bully there - although I expect he would get a lot of complaints from parents if he called their kids ‘douchebag’. Not that he’d care - but on an adult MB like this he should act like an adult - not like a bullying child.
I see, more and more, that the ‘don’t be a jerk’ rule is applied very, very selectively - and that it is never applied to moderators - the very people who are supposed to enforce it. How can people who are ‘above’ the rules be expected to enforce the rules fairly? This also applies to TD and the topic of this thread.

It is TubaDiva’s integrity – her moral soundness – that got her into the fix in the first place. I have no question as to her integrity what so ever. The Boards will be all the better to have her back now that she has a better understanding of how to apply her integrity when balancing various concerns.

The fact that she absolutely positively lacks any sense of integrity and can’t abide by a privacy policy is what got her into this mess. She’s a rash, judgmental, impulsive person who doesn’t understand professional responsibility.
