TubaDiva gave over six years of herself to keeping this board and its predecessor running smoothly, mixing justice and compassion in what I consider an eminently fair way. She got distraught by something that, while I’ll respect the Reader’s wish not to discuss, can be reasonably classified as an accusation that someone had used the board that she felt, I believe justifiably, a strong sense of proprietorship over – “her board, to which she was devoved” – for one of the most nefarious of crimes. And she over-reacted, and broke confidentiality in what I’m sure she considered one of the most worthy of ends. And for that was duly suspended and term-banned by the Reader, in what they considered to be the appropriate punishment for her offense. Is there no one but me who is willing to see the whole episode in context, and to be willing to grant some forgiveness – not condonation but “Yeah, she was wrong, but she had some extenuating circumstances behind her, and she’s been duly punished, now let’s get on with life” forgiveness?
I think she was more than wrong, I think she was outright vicious in what she did. The sneering manner of her post indicated to me that she was taking joy in doing what she did, not believing she ‘had to’ in order to ‘protect the community.’
She was spiteful, condescending, hot-headed, and wrong. And I don’t think for a minute that she wouldn’t do it again. It doesn’t matter to me how many years of ‘service’ she’s given, her judgment can’t be trusted and I don’t think she’s been ‘punished enough’.
She shouldn’t ever be a mod or admin again. She ought to be relegated to the ranks of regular member, where she’s not privvy to information that she will viciously and vindictively use against someone on one of her personal crusades again.
I think it’s a problem that she thinks this place belongs to her. I think her ego about her being an admin is way too big, and that she needs to step down among the ranks of the lowly humans again. Whatever tiny amount of respect I used to have for her, I no longer do.
And I think she’d start thinking privacy was a big deal if it was her name and home address that were published for all to see.
