Look, catsix, I too feel that Tuba should step down, but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna call her a vicious, impulsive bitch. She’s always been helpful and kind to me. While I feel that what she did was grounds for dismissal, that doesn’t mean I think we should keep flaming her mercilessly while she’s suspended, and thus, not able to speak up for herself.
I’m willing to wait for a few weeks and see what happens when she comes back and when the whole matter is taken care of. Because until then, everything that needs to be said has been said already-numerous times.
Obviously I see things differently. And this is about the only time it is possible to be honest about her without having her snap up a ban for personal reasons or try to out my home address on LiveJournal.
Uh yeah, Poly, how about the 150+ people who posted in the two different MPSIMS “I love Tuba” threads? How on Earth could you possibly paint yourself as the lone voice in the wilderness on this issue?
I’m with you, catsix. I suspect that in the end TubaDiva will do the right thing and step down. Her credibility is shot in the eyes of too many of us, not the majority but a significant minority.
The irony of Guinastasia chastising someone for posting the same thing over and over is just too good not to mention.
Of course. I wasn’t painting myself as the lone voice in the wilderness, so much as attempting a little whimsical chastisement of the people raking TubaDiva over the coals here.
Kind of, “Are you guys (viz, those posting in this thread) all so wrought up over the admittedly-serious violation of confidentiality that you can’t step back and look at it with a bit of perspective and proportion?”
Maybe because there are quite a few of us* who do not feel that she has been “duly” punished. That her “punishment” smacks of “We better do something to make it seem like we take this seriously, just to shut these people up, even though we don’t think there really is an issue here.”
*Just because we are not as … vocal as catsix doesn’t mean we aren’t out there.
Una is just wrong here. This planet, and the SDMB are not doomed, just so long as we have a steady supply of economical, efficient, clean burning, coal. If the sun goes out, we may end up pumping Oxygen off the bottom of nitrogen seas, but by God, as long as we have coal, we’ll be all right!
I too am tired of this whole issue, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think many of you are overreacting as if she had used someone’s credit card number to buy goat porn, rather than what actually occurred. Yes, she fucked up, but it’s also been blown way out of perspective. I invite you, and all else who feel they can no longer trust the admins here to feel free to leave the board over this issue.
I’m also tired of hearing this cliched phrase over and over. Should you leave the board over it as well? No, because it’s my choice to read what you wrote, much as its your choice to stop reading what we wrote.
It is a poor one. If you don’t like it, leave? What the hell is with that? There are parts of most families people dislike, yet they don’t disown them. There are parts of our country many don’t favor, yet they stick around. Why should this standard be any different for a message board community? Because it doesn’t fall in line with what Hamlet likes to read?
It wasn’t meant to be a “like it or leave it” post, it was a “if you really feel like you can’t trust the administration of the board, then perhaps you should leave” post. Huge difference between the two.
I have very little problem with you disagreeing with me regarding the severity of what happened, the odds of it ever happening again, or the right “punishment” for it. I have very little problem with you expressing it, as IIRC, you did in the prior threads. But I do have a problem when someone feels the need to bitch about it incessantly, repeating the same thing over and over, while taking potshots at someone who cannot defend herself. Whichh is why I expressed my annoyance in this thread.
But, if you honestly feel that the admins cannot be trusted, or that Tuba has no integrity, then, although we can disagree whether that would be overreacting or not, I think this may not be the best place for you.
It’s not that big of a deal! In fact, since you don’t really care too much about this issue, I’m driving to your house as I type this to install a webcam on the seat of your toilet. It’s no big deal, right? You’d be blowing things out of proportion if you assume a right to personal privacy.
