I’m a little cross-eyed after reading Judge Walker’s decision to lift the stay on same-sex marriage.
There’s just something kinda nifty about the conclusion after ten pages explaining why the Prop 8 supporters have no standing. I’m sure he writes the same thing on every decision and in the same way, but still…
I had a nice appointment at the diabetes clinic today. I’ve lost 12 pounds, and my A1C levels have dropped from 6.6 to 6.1. Woo-hoo!
When I got home, dad was taking a shower. I was in the other bathroom, and heard an ominous gurgle. My bathtub was filling up! $280 later and we have a clean outer drain.
Heading to the pub! Haven’t seen the ex-owners, thank goodness.
gotti let’s just hope this starts the ball rollin’.
mmmmmm’s chili and cornbread are good anytime. Yay for purty flowers!
Rebo yay for the good checkup! Dipsey owns you now, remember! Oh and ick on the drain stuff.
Due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’, Papa John’s made dindin. Tomorrow’s dindin is already taken care of courtesy of friends bringin’ steaks and sallit and me makin’ Friggin’ Good N.O.T. and a peanut butter pie. I guess the poke chops will be Sunday night dindin bein’ as OYKW is takin’ Monday off and will be here.
I’d been having a hankerin’ for seafood, so we went to Capt Leonard’s and I got the crab cake dinner with a salad and sweet N.O.T. wedges. I’s muchly stuffded. Oh yeah…
Daughter should be home within an hour. I hope. She called when she left the park but I haven’t heard from her since. I assume since she hasn’t called that she didn’t stop for dinner, so she should be here soon.
Weekend fun includes laundry, and loading the trailer with stuff for a dump run. yay.
I’m going to go digest and knit. And kick my shoes off. In fact, I think I’ll assume the bathrobe and slipper option. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
From what I’ve read of it, it sounds like that order was crafted to withstand a lot. I continue to fail to understand why anyone cares about who marries whom.
Have you finished that dissertation yet, Nava???
We went to a Chinese buffet for lunch too, swampy.
Am home, feeling better than I have the past couple of days (I think a stomach bug was trying to get me). It seems to have calmed down considerably today. Yay!
Am going to try to have a fairly calm weekend. I’m going with a group to tour a local mosque tomorrow morning. Should be interesting.
Next week is going to be super-busy: book group, Wicked, friend’s birthday party, niece here for a couple of days.
I’ve had some carrots. Should have something more for din-din.
Pizza for chop-chop tonight. Hubby suggested it. Works for me; I don’t have to cook or get it.
Sorry about the pink eye, Annie. I’ve only ever had it once. I think I was in second grade.
You know, what I really wanted for dinner was spinach salad, but I didn’t have any spinach or bacon on hand. This would have necessitated going to the store, picking up said items, as well as frying the bacon and boiling the eggs. It’s too hot to do that.
There was a new video game at the bar - a bowling game! I played against the guys who have played it a few times. My first frame I had a 0-1. I ended up with a 136, 3rd out of 6 players. Not bad for my first time! I foresee a lot of practice. If y’all remember - I used to bowl about 6-7 times a week and carried a 190+ average. I can’t let these MEN bowl better than me, even if it is virtual bowling!
Papa John’s cooked tonight. I am so tired tonight. I’m not sure why. It must have been all the arguing about Jet Dry yesterday. Seriously. We had an argument over whether or not it was acceptable to purchase Jet Dry for the dishwasher, which washes the dishes, but can’t seem to dry them. Apparently, it’s not ok to requisition the Jet Dry, but I can buy it and be reimbursed for it.
Our new receptionist is all trained and starts in our office Monday. Hurray! I’m tired of washing dishes. Which reminds me, I forgot to start the dishwasher before I left tonight. And I had almost escaped the building before being informed that our new hire had the temerity to wear jeans today. Can you imagine! (Poor thing. She’s not the first and probably not the last to make that mistake. I think it would be kinder to tell new hires that we don’t have casual Fridays, but what do I know?)
Anyway, I am so glad it’s Friday! I have a spa day planned for Sunday. Can’t wait!
Teenager speak makes me crazy. I’m friends on facebook with the children of an old friend of mine. The kids are 16 and 19. They regularly use words like yew or chew (you) and tew (too) and yayy and okayy. I swear I have to sit on my hands to keep from correcting them and/or asking if they know the difference. Listen up! It isn’t cute!!! (And yew need tew gett off my lawn!!)
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’! Had a good night’s sleep last night. Accordin’ to the weather forecast today, it might rain. Or not. However if it does, we can expect big storms. Hmmm… a friend has been at the beach all week and accordin’ to her fb posts it has rained almost everyday. That’s usually the weather that heads our way.
Happy Saturday Y’all! That’s all the current news from swampland.
Morning all! Woke up very early and couldn’t fall asleep again. Watched a couple of things online, had breakfast, started knitting another scarf (because I was so short of scarves; I’m going to have to give some away, I think). This one is such a pretty design that I have to knit it. And it’s not hard to knit, either.
Wow, Shadow…on the one hand, I can understand expecting the receptionist to ask about dress code. On the other hand, if your employer varies from the standard, it would be kind to mention it.
Need to get ready to go out. Need to be at the mosque at 11 for our tour.
I actually slept in until about 6:30 this morning today. I didn’t get half the stuff I wanted to get done yesterday done, so I’m going to attempt to do those things today.
My mother called me yesterday morning. She called to inform me that a family friend, someone we’ve known for 40 years passed away a few days ago. It wasn’t unexpected, she had serious health issues and I’m surprised she’d hung on this long.
Sadly, she wasn’t the same person I knew grewing up and even while in young adulthood. She had become confused and frail. Ann had always been a strong sometimes overly opinionated woman, but she always had a good heart. The last couple of times I saw her it just broke my heart. She and her husband come to the hospital I work at for their healthcare, so I’d bump into them occasionally.
I guess there isn’t going to be a service. Her husband is ill too. Cancer…
He told my mother he’s having her cremated, then when he goes, they’ll both be buried in the veteran’s cemetary up here and have a service then. I think it sounds like he’s given up and doesn’t expect to be with us much longer.
Morning! Up waaaay to early. One of the Company Men rang mr ems at 5:17 this morning about a hose leaking on a location so we have both been up since then which is very early for a Saturday but would be OK but we had a late night of anniversary ‘fun’ :p.
So I am tired today and still in my jammies. I was a bad bad slothful person and broke my own rule of not leaving the house in jammies when I went to the Starbucks drive through. It was 6:15 and I didn’t get out of the car and it is Saturday so it is not like there were many people about. That is how I justified it anyway. I know it is a slippery slope to wandering around Walmart…
I need to go buy a new baby present and a wedding present and an anniversary present for mr ems but I really have no energy. Maybes more coffee…
Busy day of errands for me, did lots of important stuff in town and I have offered to cook tonight so we’re having chicken curry and rice. I like to keep it simple! There may be a fillum or two afterwards if we can decide on what to watch, and I suspect there might be an adult beerverage or two involved.
This has been a good day. I actually slept in till just after 7! Scruffy didn’t bark - instead, she just peed in the dining room, and **FCD **cleaned it up. so YAY for that!
We rousted our darling daughter from bed, then the 3 of us went to breakfast. Afterwards, my sweetie went to the boat to install the new lifelines, and daughter and I ran errands. We got new works for 2 clocks, a new tablecloth for me and a bunch of clothes for her at Kohl’s. I even signed up for a credit card so she could get 30% more off, so for around $70, she got 2 pairs of pants, a sweater, and 3 new tops. Not bad.
Next stop was the Ford dealership where they had a 5-speed Fiesta in stock. She’s been wanting to test drive one of those for ages, so she got her chance. It’s a nice little car - I think it’s a good choice for her. She’d been talking about getting the sedan version, but I pointed out the advantages of a hatchback, plus when you’re driving, you really can’t tell the difference. So we’ll go thru our credit union or USAA and see what kind of deals we can get. She know specifically what she wants, so I expect she’ll have to order it.
Next stop was WalMart where I did the nice mommy thing and bought her a buttload of school supplies for her classroom. Too bad I can’t get a tax writeoff for it…
Last stop was PetCo for some fish food and filter cloth. It was kitteh adoption day. That’s so dangerous, but I’m strong. If I brought home another cat, I’d have one fewer husbands in the house.
Poor kittehs…
Since getting home, I’ve installed the clock works I bought, and now I’m here. I really should do some laundry. Maybe tomorrow.
Today we have napped. However, before I napped I peeled potatoes and put the N.O.T., peppers and onions in a casserole to make Friggin’ Good N.O.T. later so I actually did sump’n before my nap. That makes me less lazier.
It’s dreary and rainyish out. I say rainyish cause it hasn’t really rained just drizzled off and on. It’s supposed to rain! In a while friends are comin’ over bearin’ steaks and sallits. We’ll have adulterated beverages, grill steaks and just hang out. Should be nice.
mmmmmm’s you need a muumuu and fuzzy bunny slippers for wanderin’ around  Wally*World .
