In general, people don’t bother to fucking source some jokes. It isn’t an intent to deceive or claim it as original.
This is plagiarism:

Posting jokes on a message board without a source does not rise to the level of plagiarism. At worst, it’s lazy.
tacoloco, last time I checked, you shared them by linking to them, and saying, “Hey, I found this online, blah blah”, not by just cutting and pasting. That’s ALWAYS been the rule, as long as I’ve been here. And Dudley’s certainly been here long enough to know that as well.
Maybe plagarism is an exaggeration, but I don’t think your shit throwing at Oakminster is required here.

Which is fine. But that’s something to report and not make wild assed comments about plagiarism. The claim of plagiarism is exactly what set off a shit storm.

Oh I think it may get better. I understand the Guest of Honor intends to defend himself at some point, once he resolves mysterious technical difficulties preventing him from posting. He also claims the he can’t send PMs. I assume that would include the PM he sent me that I posted above. Little birdy told me there’s something posted elsewhere about it. Note that I will not be appearing elsewhere, nor should anyone on my behalf, please.

I had, with no evidence, assumed for years that disabling PMs meant that one could no longer send PMs as well as receive them. I’ve got to assume that both you and twickster have found out differently.
I’ll test. I will turn off my PMs, and then try to send you one.

The worst crime here is that the list wasn’t funny… OK maybe ‘regards’ was funny, but the rest weren’t. Anyway, the source you cited plagiarised the material itself. The ‘firsthand’ source is from ruminations.com, where each list item comes from a single author. How many of these do you think were really the originator of the material, rather than just recounting it on the understanding that almost all jokes are secondhand, and that the source is unknown? I’ve not cited jokes I’ve told here before, and no sanctimonious idiot has rounded on me for it. DudleyGarrett’s PM was ill considered, but I can understand his motivation.
