People find jokes on the net and post or forward them all the time. It doesn’t rise to the level of plagiarism.

One joke, sure. I mean, maybe you heard it.

But a list of a bunch of jokes? No attribution or link? That more or less *defines *plagiarism. On preview, more or less what Guinastasia sez.

Well, maybe if Oakminster didn’t start shit over nothing at all, then this wouldn’t be an issue. From my seat, Oakminster escalated things by acting like a officious prick. The correct and reasoned response would have been to hit the alert button
and move on. But NOOOOOO, can’t just do that. gotta make a “statement”.

I have to agree with tacoloco. Oakminster didn’t need to make the holier-than-thou post, just report the thread when he thought little Dudley was buying his term paper off the inter-webs.

But little Dudley upped the assholenitude with the PM and then blocking replies, giving Oakie good cause to extend the attention-whoring.

Oh I think it may get better. I understand the Guest of Honor intends to defend himself at some point, once he resolves mysterious technical difficulties preventing him from posting. He also claims the he can’t send PMs. I assume that would include the PM he sent me that I posted above. Little birdy told me there’s something posted elsewhere about it. Note that I will not be appearing elsewhere, nor should anyone on my behalf, please.

I’m gonna grab a beer and make some popcorn, but I will be taking a break to watch Warehouse 13 shortly.

Far be it from me to get in the way of your orgasmic anticipation, but, if what he said elsewhere, that he has not been able to send or receive PMs nor post to the board since sending Twickster a PM to shove the warning, is true, maybe something got messed up when recording the warning that has caused the problem. Remember this thread, where Starving Artist posted some right wing thing without attribution? He got a 7 page pile on for committing plagiarism, and wound up apologizing for it in a pretty classy manner. This sort of thing is not without precedent, is all I’m saying. One can only hope it’ll have as good an outcome… but hey, maybe Dudley Garrett just doesn’t have the classiness that Starving Artist does. That would be something.

Is he suspended? His title should show BANNED or Suspended, if so, and it’s still Guest. I didn’t see any indication that he got more than your normal, everyday, or garden-variety, warning.

Does the new warning system automatically suspend? Could there be a glitch in it?

No. Banning/suspending is done through a separate procedure that takes place in a separate section of the site.

DG is still an active member (guest) who, AFAIK, simply turned off incoming PMs soon after cussing me out.
