Heck, I got all of these (except punoqllads). I even knew how to pronounce Canthearya’s name the first time I saw it. Of course, I always think “Sue done him” instead of “pseudonym” but that’s just I’ve got a dirty mind.
Mangetout is pronounced something like ‘man-zhay-too’, and does mean ‘eat everything’. There was someone nicknamed ‘Monseuir Mangetout’, because he ate unusual things - computers, even a small airplane. I think I read it in the Guiness Book of Records, but am unsure.
Weird Earl - I thought it was supposed to give the image of some weird hermit. Y’know, like an urban legend guy. But it never occured to me that ‘url’ could be also pronounced ‘earl’.
I’m also one of those who mispronounced TubaDiva’s name. If all great minds think alike, then dull minds probably do as well.
For the longest time, I mentally added an “r” to Mangetout, getting either a Frenchy eating a fish, or a fish with a skin disease usually associated with dogs. D’uh.
Now, is there anything to iampunha? I-am-pun-ha ?!?
It’s not a reference to a funny joke (unless you’re the kind of person who, like me, thinks I am a joke) but to the pronunciation I had of my Paddington Bear doll when I was quote young. I pronounced it “punha”. Long story short, iampunha became my logic for something a few years back, and to make life easier I make it my login for everything, if possible.
The pronunciation of iampunha is such:
I-am-p’n-hah. Treat the U as a sort of gracenote; said, but only barely. This would contrast with the “Poooooooonuh” that people such as Weirddave use.
I have to disagree about the pronunciation. ‘Man-zhay-too’, would be spelled either manger tout or mangé tout. In mangetout, the “ge” is pronounced like a “j”, the “e” being silent.
I have used this online name for five years or so. It was the line we yelled back to the screen during the Rocky Horror Picture Show whenever they mentioned the planet “Transylvania” (Secret coordinates ‘Oicu812’), and it stuck with me…
