Watch it, Rue. Don’t make me give you the Middle Finger of Doom[sup]®[/sup].
And I think of it as “Sue done 'em,” which is even worse I vastly prefer that to “pseudonym.” That’s the beauty of the name - you can pick whichever interpretation you want. I hope she doesn’t mind…
Now here is my biggest d’oh moment yet. I figured out Sofa King, but now don’t get it anymore. Can I please blame this on Monday mornings?
Pucette - I read it originally as a davenport regent, but it’s a variant on “so effing”.
Your name confused me for awhile - I thought it was a very small spalsh of puce, but finally figured out the “little flea” concept.
It’s Jane D’oh!, not any of the variations listed above!
Thanks, screech-owl! I’d sort of vaguely thought of the so-fargin’ type of reading, but for some reason that doesn’t seem like the total picture. Ah well…
Please, please – it’s not from MST3K: The Movie, but from This Island Earth. And, as I’ve explained before many times, I prefer to think as it being from the Raymond F. Jones novel TIE than from that bastardized, dumbed-down movie.
Incidentally, “Dr. Clayton Forrester” on MST3K stole his moniker from the lead character played by Gene Barry in George Pal’s movie of War of the Worlds. H.G. Wells never named the character in his novel.
I like this concept. Someone should create a master list somewhere…
not me though, I’m way too lazy for that.
My personal favorite also has to be Sue Duhnym
D’oh. I always saw it as So faKing.
Here’s one for your collection:

I’m honoed by those of you that think my name is cool!
As for me, I didn’t get Sofa King until just now.
And I thought OICU812 was just a Van Halen fan.
I don’t have all that clever of a name, but I do seem to recall a few weeks ago a collective smacking of the forehead as some finally put togther some things…
Handy is deaf.
Handy probably uses sign language.
Hi Opal.
The usage of the name “Handy” for an ASL user is insanely funny… hehehehehe…
I didn’t get the OP until I was at **truepisces ** and saw the book. Didn’t know where she got it from.
Wow I never expected my thread to go this long. [sub]You like me you really like me.[/sub]
I never realized mangetout was one of those pun names… I’m probably missing it totally though considering my record. I’ve been thinking of doing one myself… changing my name to Miss B. Haven maybe?
Uh, don’t we have one already? You and your fickle names…
We have one? Durn it… and actually… I’m much more steady with my names here than in other places. On ICQ and other boards I generally change names like once a month. This is only my second name here.
Whenever I see Sofa King’s name, my mind wants to add “Normal” to the end. (No disrespect to the Emperor of Barcaloungers intended.) Even more annoying is that I seem to recall this as a quote, but I can’t for the life of me remember where it comes from. Maybe Monty Python?
Don’t worry, you’re still a gem… ::D&R::
Sorry to ressurect (a bit) but it was either this or start a new thread.
I am in the process of writing an essay on Mithraism (a religion of the Roman Empire) and I came across a quote by Polycarp !
Somehow I don’t think it was ours, as the citation was from, like, 150 CE.
So he’s named after a martyr! I always thought he just liked several fish.
I completely do not understand Tipper Keanu Ann Taylor 2 (In WildCard’s link). I’ve been saying it aloud for a while…
Anyone?
