Dungeon of the Dead (Munchkin Forbidden Thread)

Well, that’s the game. Thanks for all the commentary. Feedback is appreciated. I already know I will remove the multi-lynch and tone down the racial bonuses.

What do you guys think of the multi-vote, assuming it is not attached to a multi-lynch? I think it works fairly well, so please tell me if it bothers you.

I can’t believe you guys thought I’d be a big fat meanie and spoil the win for the lawfuls!

If I’d been in your position and they went through with the Nuclear Option, I almost certainly would have gone for the sole Chaotic win. They couldn’t have done anything to stop it.

To elaborate on the exploit sinjin found in the Nuclear Option:

Everyone knew or strongly suspected that there was only one Evil left, and that Zsophia was not one of them. A nuke would, therefore, have killed all Evil. There might have been some Chaotic Goods caught in the blast, but if so, they were acceptable sacrifices, since the only declared Chaotic wasn’t being targeted, and any undeclared Chaotic by that point was trying to win-steal, and nobody minds killing a backstabber.

But when sinjin voted for herself, it made a nuke difficult or impossible (depending on who had the faster end-of-turn reflexes). Sure, she had to out herself (or as good as) to do so, but even with her being outed, disintegrating sinjin and sinjin alone was a risk, since nobody knew if there were any Chaotics still lurking undeclared, and if there were, then they’d get an exclusive Chaotic Good win. So even knowing that sinjin was Evil, there was still a valid argument to not disintegrate her, at least until the items were accounted for or everyone else’s ethical alignment were known. Basically, sinjin was playing Chicken with the town. It didn’t work, but it was still definitely better than going quietly into that long goodnight.

In the meantime, though, her faked meltdowns (they were faked, right? They had me fooled for a while) were also confusing everything and taking up valuable Town discussion time, which Evil must have also considered a useful benefit.

The only thing I still don’t understand is why neither Chucara nor Darth Sensitive tried to monkey with the voting on the turn they both got lynched. Sure, it would have proven beyond a doubt that whoever survived was Evil, but they were both headed to the gallows anyway. What did they have to lose?

I just don’t see how it’s so much better to win by yourself than to win with other people. I guess I lack the true competitive nature.

For awhile I was just trying to “stir some poo” and then for awhile I made it my mission to make sachertorte blow a blood vessel. Waves; bygones sacher, I really did like playing with you. One of my crazier rants was, I believe, partially fueled by wine and cough medicine. :smack:

As to the vote meddling, I know Darth couldn’t be on line at the deadline and I think chucara was unable to be on either. Darth and chucara also had oog RL reasons for not being real active participants.

It was fun even though we felt a bit over-matched in the power role department. Chucara and I were basically vanilla and two thieves didn’t really help us either. Darth did try to use the rod of command on Boozy Turn 1 to switch his stabby onto sachertorte but it failed because Pleo ruled Boozy’s action a “no action” and thus not redirectable. I didn’t make that shit up.

I did keep quiet deliberately.

If we’d gone ahead with the nuclear option, I’d have flirted with her, just in case she made an item grab. I didn’t want to go singing the Ballad of Eskimo Nell (which quite definitely counts as a “bawdy song”) in case that disrupted an attempted cure.

Awww. We could have gone nuclear!

I’ve had good luck with Pleonast’s games. I’ve survived both of them. Unlike a certain other moderator’s games where I keep dying on Night One.

Just remember everyone, openly weeping chocolate cake means sinjin is Scum!
It’s fine sinjin. I’m just glad that you weren’t really upset.

sach - if I gloat, just a tiny bit, that I was right about Chucara and sinjin all the way back on Turn One, will that make me ungracious? Heh. I’ve been on an awful streak as Town, so that was a nice switch.

Pleo - I didn’t really find the multi-vote particularly good or particularly bad. I didn’t think it played as pro-Town or pro-Scum, and honestly I didn’t notice it much; to me that means it was a good mechanic.

This being the Dope and all, has anyone ever attempted a game run with Instant Runoff Voting or Condorcet Voting? I’ve a hunch that either of those would favor Town, since it would both make it harder for a bloc to swing votes, and also force people to put more information into play.

I don’t think anyone has used IRV or Cordorcet. The bookkeeping effort by the moderator would be large. I have considered having Scum use it to decide their Night kill in a rules set where they cannot secretly communicate.

You are free to do so.
Just be warned that when the chips went down your instructions were to lynch Hawkeyeop (Good) and me (Good). No mention of sinjin or Chucara then.
