E.R. 9/25 ( spoilers)

Why is John rushing back to Africa? If he thinks Luca is dead, is he going back just to get the body? Or does John know more about the situation than we do?

Why do some posters call him “Rocket” Romano?

In general, I was disappointed by the writing of last night’s show. The cast is being turned into cartoon characters. I’d much prefer the ER be an intelligent medical drama, with less emphasis on love triangles and who’s dating/sleeping with whom.

Was it just my daughter and me, or did anyone else notice that:

Gallant now has a little goatee. If he adds a little gold earring, he will be, as my daughter put it, “Benton Lite.”

Nila was taking samples from the nice old lady’s left arm, but when the old lady died, she was shown with her blood-covered and drooping RIGHT arm.

We also don’t think Luka is dead.

I forget how many seasons ago someone called him that, but that’s his nickname.

Isn’t that why “Chicago Hope” failed? Besides, there’s only so many ways to creatively injure people. The new girl’s dash into the lab to discover a bizarre condition was a twist but I can’t see them doing that every episode. Expect to see MORE “panda” this season, not less.

I’m no medical professional, but I thought the old lady was bleeding out of the shunt on her right arm and Neela had simply taken a blood sample from the left arm.

It was the right arm with the shunt directly in the main blood vessel that was the problem, not the left arm where Nila took blood. Due to the placement of the shunt, Nila was supposed to check the woman every 15 minutes.

Since Guinastasia hasn’t poked her nose into this thread yet, I will channel her aura, and point out that…

Luka and Carter are hot!

Romano calls himself Rocket. He introduces himself to people he wants to impress as “Rocket Romano”.

When the character was first introduced the other surgeons called him “Rocket” rather than “Robert” because of his amazing speed and efficiency in the operating room.
I apparently missed a show someplace. When did Susan get married? What happened to the sister and Baby Susie?

Yep, that they are, MaxtheVool, that they are!

I too seek out spoilers and

Luka is NOT dead!

I HATE HATE HATE Abby. I think Carter blowing her off is almost in reaction to her constantly blowing HIM off while she went off to be an enabler to her brother. Now she’s whining because Carter has to go somewhere. She’s also a horrible nurse-I miss Carole.

Frank is an asshole.

Chen was acting like a total bitch. I can understand her feeling upset about Pratt flirting with the new girl, but COME ON!!!

I like the new girl, actually.

I think it’s a bit much to call Susan unprofessional for trysting in the restroom with Chuck: longtime viewers recall that Mark & Jennifer Greene had an infamous episode in that same restroom, set off the alarm and had the entire staff run to walk in on them in the act and John Carter broke the rules by schtupping his student, Lucy Knight on the floor of Exam Four.

And let’s not forget the numerous couples who have been discovered in some level of flagrante in the workplace: Doug & Carol, Mark & Elizabeth, Peter & Elizabeth, Peter & WhatsHerFacetheShrewingPediatrician, Mark & Crazy Cynthia, the only ER couples never seen in an ill-advised clutch on the job are Jing-Mei and Pratt (though Jing-Mei’s sex life has certainly interfered with work) and Carter and Abby, who let their emotional baggage seep into the workplace every bloody day.

The decline of Kerry has been in the works since the beginnings of last season; recall the third or fourth episode when she used the same needle to inject the two television show hosts, then she inadvertently killed the alderman’s lover with her failure to do a proper medical history. She’s decompensating as a physician, she’s barely competant as an administrator and she’s apparently not doing so well in the relationship department either – when last we saw her and Sandy, they were fighting over the course of their mutual future. She’s in a spiral; I suspect she’s being set up for a significant explosive incident (personal, professional or both – perhaps related to the discovery of her birth parents?!) in either November or February of this season.

St. Germain – Romano has a good reason to be out of the loop: he’s been out of the hospital, recovering from the arm amputation.

We should keep in mind that in the ER universe, less than a month has elapsed between “When Night Meets Day” and “What Now?” Carter left for the Congo the day after “When Night Meets Day” ended and was there for two weeks. “What Now?” picked up the night he returned home and the day immediately after, given four days for him to travel, it hasn’t even been three weeks.

In terms of Corday (this is a Bonafide Spoiler - don’t read if you don’t want to know what happens in two weeks!)

In episode 10.3 (entitled “Dear Abby” – groan) we learn that Elizabeth has been dating Dorset, the hotshot vascular surgeon who pursued her as last season ended.

The Devil’s grandmother - Susan had a quickie marriage and a quickie annulment last season, after an unseen trip to Vegas. She and Chuck, her former husband, who is a helicopter EMT, realized that they still have the hots for one another and have been having an extremely sex-laden fling ever since, including this episode’s schtupping in the handicapped restroom.

Her sister’s storyline was kinda wrapped up in the “Third Watch” crossover two seasons ago. Unfortunately, it was so anticlimactic that I cannot recall what the wrap-up was. Anybody remember?

It wasn’t really even a wrap up. Her sister just took off again, denying that anything was wrong with her.

RE: the OP’s third spoiler: I didn’t believe that ****** was **** for one second, either.

I wish they’d stick around Chicago, though, instead of tromping halfway around the world.

Yeah, he’s always been like that. He once told Kerry she was going to hell for being a lesbian. He’s also made snide comments about Elizabeth, Jing-Mai and Luka, and chauvanistic comments about the women in general.
I have to admit, I’ve never heard the phrase “Third World Assassin” though. What exactly does it mean?

Re: Susan and Little Susie…there was an ER/Third Watch crossover where she got a frantic call from Susie in NYC that Chloe had disappeared. Susan went to NY to look for her (which was the TW episode), and found that Susie was gone by then, too. She talked with Chloe’s husband (a cop, who had left Chloe), and with Third Watch cops Yokas and Bosco were able to find Chloe (in a seedy area, and back on drugs), and with the help of two kids, realized that Susie had been taken by a potential child molester. They found Susie, unharmed, but while at the hospital, Chloe took off with Susie for parts unknown. There was a quick scene in one follow-up episode where we saw Susan talking to (I think) Chloe’s husband, and we were led to believe that she was back in rehab and the husband had Susie.

Just wondering if the folks who posted spoilers know a good place to find them online. Please post your favorite links.

Thanks.

Comments from the ER vault here (it’s being rerun in perpetuity)…when Carol Hathaway had her twins…NO WAY was she working on her feet & getting ready to go on maternity leave in week 38! That girl would have been on at least partial bedrest for a month or two, and twins deliver at or before 37 weeks most of the time.

They also should never have killed Lucy.

TeaElle and wasn’t Doug schtupping some nameless doctor chick in Exam 2, back in that episode where he’s telling the teenage girl w/the STD that boys are crap who just want to use girls (& inadvertantly proves it).

If you guys want to see Romano with hair, rent Fame sometime (if there’s anyone out there who didn’t already know that).

I dunno, fessie. My mom had twins in the early 70s and worked the whole time. Different strokes for different folks, maybe?
Personnally, I’m glad that they killed Lucy. She never really fit into the show (probably the fault of the writers instead of the actress) and reports were that the actress didn’t enjoy being on the show. I did like the two episodes involving Lucy’s death and think it was a good way for the character to exit.

TeaElle, unless schtupping means something other than sexual intercourse, I don’t recall Carter and Lucy doing anything more than kissing and groping at the hospital. But, I’d be happy to be corrected and pointed to that episode summary!

And let’s not forget all the nurses and patient’s mothers that Luka has done in various exam rooms and closets.

You’re right, Carter and Lucy never went beyond a quick grope in an X-Ray room. Lucy put her sweater back on inside out and Chuny pointed it out to her as she left the room.

Carter did sleep with Harper, a fellow med student from Season 1 or 2, who in turn slept with Doug. Mark had to remind Doug how much trouble he’d get in if anyone found out that a doctor was schtupping a med student.

I liked Lucy-I liked her and Carter together. But Kelly Martin wanted to leave because of personal issues-it wasn’t that she didn’t get along with anyone, but she had just lost her sister to a long illness, and working on a show about a hospital and dying and death was taking it’s toll on her.

Yeah, Luka’s been banging everyone in the hospital.

My favorite ER site? The Lounge

Avalonian Weaver has always been psycho. She was just a little moreso here. Even full blown whackjobs have bad days.

As to ugly people on the show, Lizzie fits the bill, both in looks and personality. She looks vaguely equine to me, and her character is just. Such. A. Bitch. I hated her when she was with Mark, and she’s only gotten worse. The first half of the time she was with Benton was the only time I could tolerate her. In a perfect world, Mark’s cancer would have been the first contagious case in history.
