I have one of those little electric ear hair trimmers. A few seconds of maintenance in each ear whenever I happen to think about it or notice it. No big deal. Prt of getting old.
Sweetie has wolfman-style (thanks WhyNot) ear hair. There’s a little too much to pluck, so he shaves it off every now and then. If he lets it go a little too long I tease him about it but I don’t find it any more gross than if he lets his beard get a little scraggly. It’s hair, not toxic sludge.
I’d be very interested in this as my ear hair is very tough to trim or pluck.
I may wind up printing this thread for my husband. He has incredibly fuzzy ears and doesn’t trim. He also has two very long eyebrow hairs (one on each eye). They’re so long they curl upwards. I want to pluck them while he’s sleeping, but he’s pretty wily.
I’ve been shaving the hair on the outside edges of my ears for several years now. I trim nose hairs too.
When my middle daughter was 2-3, she used to hold on to the ear of the person whose lap she was in as a comfort thing (this is actually pretty common). She’d love to run her finger up and down the edge of my ear and feel the hair. She’d complain vociferously (to the point of crying) whenever I shaved it. So that’s at least one female who preferred hairy ears.
I’ve never noticed ear hair on guys who weren’t more than twice my age…and I couldn’t give a fig about what a guy that old looks like. Ask me again in 20 years, when it shows up on men my age.
Got me one of 'em grooming trimmers for nose and ears last year. Asked myself what took so long.
Duct tape & determination.
“The secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions…”
I trim mine with my electric razor.
Trim nose hair with the rotary hair trim thing. Pluck ear hair. It hurts less.
Fortunately, the new woman LOVES plucking them. It’s like foreplay for her.
As I’ve now entered my mid-30’s, this just suddenly pounced on me. I pluck ear and nose hair. Why couldn’t these damn things start sprouting on top of my head instead of elsewhere? Criminy.
But I’ve also started getting gray chest hair and have had a few random comments on how sexy it is.
Female, and I think ear and nose hair are gross. Not an absolute dealbreaker, but it squicks me out. Same with crazy old-guy eyebrow hair. I’ve already told the spouse that if he lets his eyebrows go wild when he gets old, I’m gonna trim them for him. He already does his own eyebrows and ears, so we’re good there.
I pluck. I hate it when l miss one for a couple of weeks and it gets all long and thick and feels like I’m plucking it straight off my brain when I finally find it. Getting old blows.
For a while I considered letting my ear and nose hair get long enough to do a combover.
