Recently I e-mailed two mods to remove a post from a thread I originated or to please close the thread completely, but I never heard back from either one and no action was ever taken.
Do I take this non-answer as a “No, I won’t do it!”, or am I asking too much to at least receive am e-mail stating the reason?
Did you click on the “Report post” link at all, Quasimodem? I find, these days, given how busy the board is, that’s the best way to get in contact, other than doing a blanket emailing to all admins plus the forum’s mods concerned.
We don’t always see email until late in the day or even the next day; most of us hold down full or even more than full-time jobs and are not always able to deliver as timely a service as we would like.
I should mention that we all do try to cover for one another when we can as well, but it’s a big board and there is times when things just flat get past us.
Your best bet to get something corrected is to email more than 1 mod. If you don’t hear from us within 24 hours, try again; we’ve all had email go astray as well.
Icewolf, no I didn’t. I just sought out the mods responsible for that particluar forum and e-mail them both directly. Oh well. Maybe the thread will just die its own death.
Tuba, if the board is so busty and you guys have such limited time why don’t you guys bring on more mods? This is honest curiosity, overall I’m very happy with the board is run, and I only ask because you brought it up.
I would speculate (WAG Ahoy!) that one of the potential problems with greatly increasing the number of moderators would be that it could increase the intercommunication overhead to an unmanageable level, that and the limited number of velour seats in the secret cabal canteen.
