If we go with your previous numnbers (just for the sake of argument) then Trump has a 10%(ish…rounding to make it easy) advantage in the current votes. IF that held, and there are 173,000 votes left Trump would advance by 17,300 votes. A little more than half his 30k deficit.
And that assumes all those provisional ballots are counted as legit.
Again, Trump has run out of room. He is done barring some dramatic shift in trends.
Rough math in my head, Donald needs just about 60% of those 173k outstanding. He’s been coming up just short of that in previous dumps but, Jeebus, it’s gonna be close at the end. Maybe Georgia close.
Totally agree. Confirmations from the networks and news sources are a positive because they have teams of professional mathematicians, armed with technology and big data, whose number 1 job is to not get it wrong. What’s troubling is when some of them confirm something 48 hours ago, but the others aren’t willing to.
Everyone can see where this is going. Biden, the media, us. But Biden is determined to follow protocol. I’m glad he is. It would be nice to have it called, but it’s only another day or two.
Whenever it is called and agreed upon by the major networks, it will help legitimize the election across the country. Biden isn’t going to get over his skis on this. Frankly, I’ll enjoy that champagne more over the weekend anyway!
Looks like Biden is going to make some remarks tonight. I’m sure he is going to call for patience and calm as we finish this process in a stately manner.
In other news, sounds like Trump’s people are breaking it to him that he’s not going to win this election and he needs to prepare for that. Whatever that means. I’m afraid to find out.
I’m guessing they are planning his exit strategy to get out of the country before January 20 and what lousy things he can do in the next two months (staring with pardons).
I am not kidding. I cannot imagine Trump wanting to stay in the US after he is out of office. There are a slew of legal actions waiting for him.
I think that about 35k of the outstanding ballots are from Pima, Apache, and Santa Cruz counties - all of which are much bluer than Maricopa. Last dump I saw from Pima increased Biden’s lead.
One idea that I’ve seen floated is that, under the Constitution, the President may be able to force the Senate into an adjournment. The procedure is a little complicated and it would require the connivance of the House, but if he can force the Senate to adjourn for greater than 10 days then he can make a recess appointment to any executive or judicial vacancy. Such appointment would only last until the end of the current session of Congress, after which hopefully Democrats would pick up the necessary seats in the Senate to confirm them to regular terms of office.
Here’s why networks calling it matters to me. Four years ago, I told myself to fight the good fight so in four years, we could escape this nightmare. It’s been a very long, grueling, emotionally arduous four years. I feel like I’m in prison and waiting to hear if I get parole or not, and every day, I’m told, “Later today” and then “Maybe tomorrow.” My blood pressure is up. I’m not sleeping well. When the stakes are this high, chilling is impossible.
I know the networks’ calls aren’t official. I know it’s important to do this right. But way too much rides on this for me not to be chomping at the bit. The fact said chomping doesn’t hurry anything is beside the point. I need for this to be over. Unofficially over will do until it’s officially done.
I have no idea if this is really possible, but if it is, then I would be thrilled to see Dems flexing this kind of muscle, assuming Mitch obstructs as he did before (which is a pretty safe assumption).
Can’t we just make sure to push turnout enough in Georgia to fill those 2 Senate seats with Dems? We’ve got great candidates!! We don’t have to accept McConnell as Majority Leader!!
