Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Nice!

Biden had a great message, but you’re right, he did sound tired. He’s no doubt been under a tremendous amount of stress with much too little sleep. It’s some consolation that the Orange Imbecile has been under a lot more, since he’s facing a world of legal trouble when he loses, but the orange one I’m sure is being propped up by cocaine, steroids, and whatever else he can get his tiny hands on. In his tiny brain, winning this election was merely a stepping stone to a third term and more – as he himself suggested, saying out loud the part you’re not supposed to say – thus keeping the con going pretty much forever.

But man, the contrast between Biden and his orange opponent was as stark as could be. Biden sounded like a president seeking to heal a troubled nation. Trump … well, let’s just say I’ve known five-year-olds who have shown more maturity.

Biden was certainly more presidential than the Orange Menace. It’s great to hear but it is a low bar.

I gotta say though that I am not keen on Biden’s lovey, let’s all work together message.

Maybe he has to say such things but for fuck’s sake…if there is one thing the republicans have shown over the past 12 years it is a complete unwillingness to work together. The Obama administration is rightly criticized for their neverending effort to work with republicans who were never, ever interested in working with Obama.

Hell, McConnell is already indicating he will block Biden’s cabinet appointments.

I’m tired of it. Fuck this kumbaya shit, take the gloves off and have at them. The republicans are not trying to play nice. They are not looking for compromise or accommodation. They are actually pretty up front about trying to thwart absolutely anything democrats might do with no regard for whether it is good for the country or not.

Biden prides himself on being able to work across the aisle. Maybe that bullshit kinda sorta worked in the 80’s but not today.

Our country has some real problems that need fixing and I don’t want Biden spending four years trying to be a nice guy working across the aisle to name a fucking post office.

The republicans made this bed. Let them sleep in it.

Interesting… Rupert Murdoch appears to be dumping Trump.

The new messaging appears to be closely coordinated, and it includes an appeal to Trump to preserve his “legacy” by showing grace in defeat. The message is being carried on Fox News and in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post – all outlets avidly consumed by Trump himself, especially Fox.

One Fox News host, Laura Ingraham, an intimate of the president ever since she spoke at the 2016 Republican national convention, made an astounding statement that seemed directed at Trump personally, advising him to accept defeat “if and when that does happen” with “grace and composure” and appealing to his sense of his own legacy.

Trump + ‘grace and composure’ = 🇩🇴🇪🇸 🇳🇴🇹 🇨🇴🇲🇵🇺🇹🇪

But if the right-wing media are dumping him, then it’s really over.

He spoke 4 hours before your timestamp. Did you catch a replay, or did he speak in the middle of the night as well?

I woke up and was watching my NBC live stream. It may well have been a replay but they made no indication of that.

I get what you’re saying. But the parent wrote to me directly, in addition to writing to the principal. It was helpful for him to share the email she sent him, so I had a better idea of how to respond to her.

Are there stats yet available on the vote breakdown so far? I’m curious about the percent of the popular vote for Biden and Trump, broken out by in-person, mail-in, and others.

Doubtless those numbers exist but I do not think anyone has had a chance to compile all of that data yet. They are still too busy in the counting process.

Lol. MAGAts claiming Trump got Steined:

Yeah. This is childish. Sue me.

Payback for Ralph Nader in 2000.

(and let’s ignore the Green Party which, I think, got similar margins…not sure though and too lazy to care and look up)

That’s good. I have an inept principal and several times a year I have to deal with teachers who are having total meltdowns because he shared something “Just FYI”.

So how worried should we be about this?

The Trump administration in the past 2 days has abruptly dumped the leaders of 3 agencies that oversee the nuclear weapons stockpile, electricity and natural gas regulation, and overseas aid.

I can’t help but wonder if Biden said flat-out that he will not pack the Supreme Court whether the senate races would have been different. I don’t believe he would have done it anyway but the evasiveness from him coupled with some high-profile Democrats getting too excited talking of doing it may have let the GOP senators the opening to pounce and keep the senate majority.

Joe Scarborough on MSNBC urging networks to apply consistency to calling races: either use the same methodology now as on Election Night or stop calling them altogether.

How many voters are really that sophisticated, at the end of the day?

“Don’t buy any green bananas.”

John Fetterman offers advice to the Trump legal team in Pennsylvania.

Jake Tapper explained last night that the various networks assiduously stay independent of one another, to the point that their “Decision Desk” people don’t even cross-communicate with each other.

Scarborough is alleging the reason networks have yet to call any of the remaining states is that they don’t want to upset Trump.
