There is probably a mountain of documents that need to be shredded, pronto.
A non-lawyer/judge might think this unusual, but lawyers make this kinda BS argument all the time. The biggest challenge I perceive as a judge is NOT saying what I’m thinking - which is usually something along the lines of, “How can you make that argument with a straight face?” The best thing is to let them use up their time, conclude proceedings, and then summarily deny.
Apparently Lindsay Graham is now quoted as saying Biden should have access to intelligence briefings. Wow, wonder what spurred him to risk getting the trump buzz saw in the face?
Also the trump campaign is extending some contracts for fundraisers and lawyers.
Do you really want to contest the results, Donald?
As of Wednesday, 51 of the state’s 72 counties had completed their canvasses. When you add up all of their totals, Biden gained 10 votes and President Trump lost 271 votes compared to the unofficial results from election night.
If I had to guess, it’s because Lankford gave him a shim of cover by taking the position that allowing Biden access to intelligence briefings isn’t necessarily calling the election. (It is, but it doesn’t take much for Trump to grab onto as an “out.”)
Looks like Sheldon Adelson has seen enough:
There was a lot of buzz for several months that Esper was on his way out - either via resignation, or firing. And I think there are a lot of people that would say Esper was replaced so that Trump could put a lackey in - Esper was enough of one himself to earn the moniker “Yesper”.
There is a nonzero chance that something absolutely crazy might happen - most likely a crazy court decision or 2 that made it to the Supremes, and the Supremes did something incredibly crazy and blatantly biased. Like I said, a nonzero chance.
But I think the chances of that are becoming less and less with each passing day. The numbers are becoming clearer and clearer. The lawsuits are becoming flimsier and flimsier. More and more influential people in every field and of nearly every strip are acknowledging reality and want to move on from the sideshow. With each passing day he is appearing more and more pitiful and irrelevant. (His blatant stepping away from any pretense at performing his job doesn’t help him IMO.)
Just be patient. The adults are taking the steps to slap down his tantrums and usher him out the door. His loyalists are becoming fewer and more pathetic.
What we are seeing is basically a classic Trump tantrum/sideshow - albeit on a larger scale than ever before. He is happy to spend other people’s money - or to try to profit personally as best he can. But as others have observed, he is a cowardly blowhard. He only talks tough when he either has nothing at stake, or when he has tremendous resources behind him.
I’m thinking the biggest worry is if he launches some military adventure somewhere - I don’t know where. Either to distract, or to flip over the gameboard in a tantrum. That is the way I see him as able to singlehandedly wreak the most damage.
Judging by the fact that Roberts recently asked the Republican legislature to stop bringing partisan bullshit to the Supreme Court, I’m optimistic that a Supreme Court challenge won’t get Trump very far.
Even if Trump isn’t able to start a TV news program, he can absolutely run an online platform, and it WOULD garner a huge audience to which he could continue spreading his bullshit and fanning the flames of his base. Indeed, I worry about this very thing - Trumpism continuing to be a viable movement even after he’s out of office. And they’d be fighting - you can infer anything you want from that word - a tangible, established government this time, and not a nebulous “deep state.” It could get very ugly.
And the networks had called Bush the winner, not to mention the process would have taken to the middle of December, causing chaos.
It was a good call by SCOTUS, even tho I am unhappy with the results.
I thought he was just installing people willing to call in troops, should there be violence in the streets. Which, of course, he’ll keep stirring up, till it explodes!
Declare emergency, stay in power.
Pretty simple recipe. Maybe those fellas he told to ‘stand by’, will get involved?
I thought that was the scary bit.
He can’t leave after Christmas, he needs to run the country, am I right? Okay, I texted my maga bud. I made the mistake of asking him two questions, so far hes only answered one. I asked why all the people ran out in the streets to celebrate. his reply:
“Because they believe the libtard legacy media’s lies and want to get rid of ORANGE MAN BAD CHEETO HITLER.”
Kindof has a ring to it, actually.
You need to thank your ‘maga bud’ for the nickname. Tell him it’s caught on and a lot of your friends are using it.
We’re supposed to feel duly punished by his withdrawal from public view.
That worries me too. As far as I know there’s NO precedent and would be unconstitutional for a president to say “oops, emergency, gotta stay in office even though I was voted out.” So if trump tries to make that happen I hope our institutions could withstand and resist. I am afraid that not that many Americans would protest as long as they still had Netflix and ice cream.
Ask him if that is the same person as the “tiny fingered, Cheeto-faced, ferret wearing shitgibbon”
He’s going to ask Rudy to gin up something and he will call a conference at Rikers Island to fire Sonny Perdue.
I googled it

Also, intellectually incurious and lazy. I’d be more terrified than I currently am (and I’m a little terrified) if I thought Trump’s malignancy were combined with intelligence and a dedication to hard work. Fortunately, he’s only got one weapon in his arsenal - bluster - and he doesn’t have the brains or energy to do anything else.
Maybe Greenland. It’s been on his list for a while now.
