Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Get ready to wet your pants laughing.

This comes as absolutely no surprise.

Trump’s attorneys filed a revised version of the lawsuit, removing allegations that election officials violated the Trump campaign’s constitutional rights by limiting the ability of their observers to watch votes being counted.

Trump and Rudolph W. Giuliani, his personal attorney, have said repeatedly that more than 600,000 votes in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh should be invalidated because of this issue.

Trump’s pared-down lawsuit now focuses on allegations that Republicans were illegally disadvantaged because some Democratic-leaning counties allowed voters to fix errors on their mail ballots. Counties have said this affected only a small number of votes.

He’s progressing towards the “I give up because this whole thing was stolen” resolution. It’s what he planned over a year ago.

I think this was the “big, big, yuuuuge thing” that was supposed to happen next week, that would overturn Pennsylvania in Trump’s favor, in the greatest election upset in history. So, I guess not.

I guess some lawyers would prefer not to be disbarred or charged with contempt.

Here’s 4 minutes of a fantastic interview that Erin Perinne just had with Fox News’ Leiland Vittert about the lawsuits (there’s commentary after the interview). SPOILER: Vittert cuts her off for being ridiculous.

Yeah, on the Bill Maher show on Friday, Jenna Ellis was indignant about the 682,000 Pennsylvania ballots that had been counted without “without meaningful access from Republicans or team Trump.”

Maher replied “Just stop it.”

LOL. Good stuff - thanks!

Just occurred to me that there is a technical flaw in that diagram. It’s including Andrew Johnson in the one-term category. However, Johnson was not elected to a term, did not serve a full term, and did not stand for election at the next presidential election. He’s obviously included because he was impeached.

However, it would seem to me that if he counts as a one-term president, then so too should the other Veeps who became president on the death of the President but weren’t elected: Tyler, Fillmore, and Arthur. After all, they’ve got Ford there.

And, it looks like it’s got Cleveland right at the bottom of the “one termer”. I think that’s a bit misleading, since he served two full terms.

ARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – President Donald Trump’s campaign on Sunday withdrew a central part of its lawsuit seeking to stop the certification of the election results in Pennsylvania, where Democrat Joe Biden beat Trump to capture the state and help win the White House.

Ahead of a Tuesday hearing in the case, Trump’s campaign dropped the allegation that hundreds of thousands of mail-in and absentee ballots - 682,479, to be precise - were illegally processed without its representatives watching.

*The campaign’s slimmed-down lawsuit, filed in federal court on Sunday, maintains the aim of blocking Pennsylvania from certifying a victory for Biden in the state, and it maintains its claim that Democratic voters were treated more favorably than Republican voters…Pennsylvania’s top election official, Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar, a Democrat, responded in court on Sunday, asking the judge to dismiss the case. State courts are the proper jurisdiction for the subject, and the lawsuit contains no “plausible claim for relief on any legal theory,” the state’s lawyers wrote.

So? He was still a one term president.

Agreed. However, I don’t think they need to include every one term president, just a sample. The circle is too small to accommodate them all.

Discussed in the Snopes article. They might have included his picture twice. The 22nd and 24th presidents were both one term. They jest happened to be the same person.

Usually it isn’t a good idea to set up high expectations in advance of humor - nothing says “this joke is going to fail, bigly” like people telling you in advance how funny it’s going to be.

But this is indeed pants-wettingly funny. (FULL DISCLOSURE: I did not, in fact, wet my pants.)

Yes, I know. Follow the quotes back.

In personal news, Florida has just informed me that the absentee ballot I posted six weeks ago has been received.

Thanks, Louis.

Ha! Yes, I realized the risk as I typed those words. Glad you found it amusing.

It’s impressive that the Bad Lip Reading videos are still so funny, eight years after some still-anonymous creator stumbled on the idea thanks to his mother’s near-deafness. You’d think the routine would wear thin, but somehow it’s refreshed each time, from NFL football players to Star Wars characters.

And, you’d think Trump’s idiotic word salads would make him immune to such parody, but in fact it isn’t. Maybe because it’s so believable!

Ogod, that is hilarious!

It’s kind of ridiculous that Cleveland is counted twice, IMO.

It means you can win a lot of bar bets, though. If someone mentions Trump’s the 45th President, bet them fifty bucks they don’t know how many people have been President.

Apparently trump had another tweet meltdown early Monday morning, claiming he won, that Republican poll watchers were thrown out, that Dominion software is owned by Democrats and threw out Republican votes, etc

This is so harmful. Biden is up shit creek when he takes office. GOP is going to make his presidency even more difficult than Obama’s if that’s possible.

He will never stop, will he? Even after all states certify the vote count, even after the electoral college vote, even after he vacates the White House, even after Biden is sworn in as President, he will continue to claim that he won the election.

And his followers will continue to believe every tweet.

Yep. Fact checking isn’t enough because his voters discount or don’t even see that information.

Oh, they see it. The see it and think “they are censoring us”. Total idiots.
