Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

Who cares about intentions? Actions - or inaction - are the only things that count.

Philosopher Carlin: You gotta wanna.

Biden’s election is not official until the states certify their votes and the electoral college formally casts its ballots in mid-December. Trump’s campaign has sought to derail that process by filing lawsuits alleging problems with the election and seeking to stop the certification in some states. Legal experts say there is little Trump can do to head off Biden’s win, but Republicans could seek to delay the process.

Geez Louise, may have to amend the thread title to month.

After sleeping on it, I’d like to submit an affidavit  to rescind my change of heart — to reaffirm my original statement. It is 71 million — actually, 73 million — traitors after all.

Can I do that? Or is it too late?

I make all the rules, so yes, this is allowed.

I used to love that bit! It was about seven sins just to commit a sin!

Last lawsuit in AZ was dismissed (the one with two votes at stake). Maricopa County Certified their results:

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, the elected body that oversees elections in Arizona’s most populous county, voted unanimously on Friday to approve the results of this month’s general election.

The majority-Republican supervisors did so after spending hours on Friday afternoon asking election officials who oversaw the voting process numerous questions related to election fairness, security, technology and oversight.

Before the vote, the supervisors, four Republicans and one Democrat, said they were satisfied with the answers.

Republican chairman Clint Hickman said there was no proof of fraud or misconduct in the election and he was confident that voters were provided with a fair election. He said that he “learned a lot about the character of people in this community” on the matter, and he would not “violate the law or deviate from my own moral compass,” even though he said that’s what some had pressured him to do.

“No matter how you voted, this election was administered with integrity, transparency, and most importantly in accordance with Arizona state laws,” Hickman said.

Only the wingnuts in Mohave County haven’t certified their results, but they are supposed to on Monday.

However, Pima County not so rosy - vote was certified 3-2 along party lines, with the two Republicans voting no because “blah blah blah Sharpie blah blah blah”.

PA Lt. Gov. Fetterman is still my hero of this election:

Especially for the end of his tweet to Patrick: “p.s. - the Cowboys blow”.

If I offer that it was six, not seven, will you stipulate that it wasn’t a nitpick, but rather a testimony to my adoration of GC ?

Take Donald Trump’s name out of it.

In a society where self-rule has been the norm since even before our nation was founded, few things say “I’m a citizen” like voting does. That’s why when some apolitical types say that they are not going to vote, I remind them that voting isn’t just a right, it’s a responsibility. It’s like paying taxes: the more people don’t do it, the more everyone collectively suffers.

Anyone who is actively supporting ways to invalidate voting is advocating replacing democracy with a government in which I have no representation. In so doing, they are also invalidating my, your, and our citizenship – without my permission. Whatever regime they replace self-governance with is going to illegitimately force me to live by policies that we collectively did not consent to. That is grand theft, the taking of something highly valuable without my permission and presumably, with no intention of returning it anytime soon.

Someone who advocates theft of my choice and my personal representation and citizenship in our society is indeed my enemy.

Hahahhaha, I’m not a football fan, but in light of that news, this Texan says:
GO EAGLES!!!
GO STEELERS!!!

Dan Patrick is and always has been a fucktard.

Yeah, you’re wrong. The man has tinpot despot written all over him.

This could use a cite. To me, when Trump got over 70 million votes, the Republicans got in line. (I have no cite for my claim, either.)

I’m confused.

Georgia’s Republican Governor Brian Kemp certified the state’s election results Friday, saying that now that the results are certified, the Trump campaign can pursue other legal options to call for a recount.

So he certified the results, but now leaves the door open for yet another recount?

Now I’m thinking of that time the Oregon Highway Department blew up a whale.

SoS Raff was required by law to hand-count audit one of the races on the state ballot. He chose the POTUS race for many obvious reasons (including prolly trying to save Georgia some money; the state and/or counties pay for recounts not the requestor). When that was done he certified the results.

The results then went to Gov. Kemp who had 48 hours after the SoS certified to himself certify the results. His certification starts a 48 hour clock for a candidate defeated by a margin of .5% or less to request a recount. Said recount would not be a hand-count, it would be scanning the ballots back thru the machines again.

The Firehose of Fiction tends to make it extremely hard to point to just one thing, but … in this case … Exhibit A:

Ignoring for the moment … rule of law … election rat-fuckery … using taxpayer dollars to blackmail an adversary, under existential threat, if they don’t ‘find’ (ie, cook up) damaging material on your likely opponent in the upcoming election, obstructing justice, threatening to jail your political enemies, vilifying the press until they receive unprecedented death threats, attacking every institution of democracy with an eye toward the populace trusting nobody and nothing but yourself …

Shall I/we go on ?

If you are having a bad day, just realize Trump can see them building Biden’s inauguration pavilion/platform on the lawn outside the White House.

This can’t feel good.

I’m guessing Trump views it as a gallows (and not his).
