Election Day [Week][Month[s]] [Year] 2020 follow-along thread

I’d also guess that some % of the non-respondents are simply covering their bets.

Nobody wants ex-President CFSG going on Twitter Tirades against them, but even fewer (than zero ??) people want President CFSG doing it.

And I think there are some that simply can’t rule out that this blind squirrel – with a life’s history of falling up – can find another acorn.

Abject cowardice, a perverse worldview or mere sloth? Not exactly a great range of explanations for Congressional Republicans’ lack of response.

Yeah, I guess.

I’m just wondering what kind of response rate you would get if Breitbart (or even Fox News) sent a bunch of “do you believe there was any voter fraud in the 2020 election?” questions to Democratic reps. I tend to think the vast majority just wouldn’t answer.

If the vast majority of GOP reps vote to uphold any crazy objections when the EVs are actually read then I will be far more outraged than by their mere refusal to answer a random reporters questions.

I totally agree that most members of the GOP have shown remarkable cowardice with their refusal to acknowledge reality and push Trump to accept the results of the election. I’m just not sure that this survey really shows that.

Go to your room.

Or none of the above. Answering a survey from a newspaper probably doesn’t fall too high on any of their current to-do lists, regardless of party. I say this as someone who absolutely despises Republican politicians right now, but let’s not look too deeply into this.

Yes, let’s DO look a little more deeply into this. This isn’t any old survey about what toothpaste you like to use.

Below is obviously the reason they aren’t going public with the acknowledgment of Biden’s win besides being too gutless to acknowledge in a (sort of) anonymous survey.

Donnie spank tweet.

Uh, ok. If you want to be outraged by this, be my guest. Hell, if you want to be outraged by every single little thing, especially shit that, at the end of the day, matters not a whit to how or if Biden will govern, knock yourself out. I really don’t care if those as clowns chose to answer a newspaper survey or not. If Democrats in Congress were surveyed by the WaPo in December 2016 about Trump’s electoral legitimacy, but 80-odd percent of them chose to ignore the survey, I suppose some people would’ve read into that too. And others would be like, “meh.”

So look deeper, ThelmaLou. You think it’s important.

So… it’s okay with you if I want to be “outraged by every single little thing” especially shit that doesn’t matter? Oh boy. Thank you. Was that it? Did I miss something?

Lady, you’re the one who brought it up. If you think it’s important, great. Sometimes I forget how defensive you get about stuff. Like, if someone doesn’t fall in lockstep with what you think is “obvious,” you get snarky and nasty as all-fuck. Lesson learned.

Did the Post separate “no answer” and “uncertain”?

I did not pay the premium price for the article. Which 2 said “Trump” was the winner?

Wow.

Ditto. I guess. :astonished:

My money’s on Devin Nunes and Matt Gaetz.

Modnote: You are making personal attacks in P&E. That isn’t allowed. No more please.
It’s been a month since the election, it is time to calm down everyone.

This is just a guidance, not a warning. Nothing on your permanent record.

I don’t think this was posted before. Short version: losing in courts everywhere, and abandoning all pretext of reason, Trump calls Republican Georgia governor Kemp and demands that he call a special session of the state legislature to overturn the election and appoint electors for Trump. Kemp tells him to go pound sand.

Question: did Trump’s lawyers ask the Supreme Court [ETA: of the US, not of an individual state] to hear any appeals? If so, when, and has there been any response, other than in the form of crickets?

The Supreme Court is just the Holy Grail … Why would Trump lawyers actually have the Court weigh in and embarrass them when they can just hold this up as the Holy Grail for the dumber-than-dirt MAGA folks? And, Trump probably hasn’t raised enough money from these idiots to pay off all his debts yet.

Sure. But how many have called Biden to congratulate him?

vs

How many have tried to steal the election?

Trump very likely just commited a felony.

And yet, the President is demanding the NAMES! of the Republicans who said he lost and Biden won. That suggests to me that this is a pretty significant story, about the current state of democracy in the States and the lack of simple courage in the great majority of the elected Republicans in the two houses.

What I’m most confused about is does Georgia or Federal law allow for a governor to call a special session of the legislature to do this? From all the things I’ve read these last few weeks I haven’t seen that this is possible. Did I miss something? Surely any state that tried this would run up against their state’s Supreme Court or SCOTUS. Right?
