Nevada won’t report further until tomorrow.
Things they need to shut the fuck up about:
“Fossil Fuels = Bad”
Gun control
School choice, vouchers, all that shit - leave it at the local level
Hell, if they just shut the fuck about THOSE THREE THINGS, they’d have a shot at rebuilding that blue wall.
Fossil fuels = bad is true, and is the greatest threat facing humans since we evolved as a species. People need to stop being in denial about that.
Nate Cohn:
“We’ve gotten a bit more data in Pennsylvania, which narrows Trump’s lead to 8 points. To my mind, everything there is still consistent with Biden eventually taking the lead.”
If only the north just shut up about slavery the south wouldn’t have been pissed.
Also, what gun control? I have heard conservatives bitching that dems will take their guns for 40+ years and yet somehow you all still have your guns. Amazing…
As for schools, it is one of the most important things to stop conservatives from ruining (which they are doing their level best to do).
Gun control, I can agree with. Despite Americans dying unnecessarily to gun violence, politically it will never be a winner.
School, however- in my opinion, a very large part of the problems in this country stem from poor education. The right wing has done everything they can to gut the department of education, and we as a nation are poorer for it. We should have a unified curriculum based on improving our strengths in science and critical thinking, or we are going to fall behind in an increasingly technologically-oriented future.
Their message is actually “renewable energy = better”
60% of the members of the NRA believe in gun control
Vouchers… ya got me there with an easy reply, other than I sent my kids to private schools, and that was my choice. Taking tax dollars out of the public schools won’t improve them.
You got anything else? How about instead of saying “shut the fuck up about those…” we actually compromise - you agree to register your gun, and I won’t ban AK47s and AR15s. You want a rant? How about WHY THE FUCK IS “COMPROMISE” A DIRTY WORD IN AMERICA?
OK, keep pushing that message and we’ll keep either losing or squeaking by on the skin of our teeth.
We need to decisively attain power FIRST, and THEN enact policy.
Slavery was also in the same boat. There were a lot more scaremongers about the north wanting to do away with the institution than high-powered people trying to make it happen imminently. (Which isn’t to say that they’re on the same plane of absolute wrongness.)
You have no understanding of American culture if you think this would ever fly.
If you accept the premise that 1982 Reagan Republicans were accurately rated on a liberalism scale at 0.17, then yes, those 1982 Reagan Republicans were hugely liberal. Apparently, the US in 1982 was seething in liberalism, the Democratic Party has not moved on since then, the Republican Party is far more conservative, and therefore the US as a whole is far more conservative, but apparently about as liberal on average as the UK Conservative Party. Do you actually believe that assessment? Because that’s what the data in the graph you’re lauding is saying.
What’s your point? What premise do you have that you believe that graph is supporting, and why do you believe that graph is reliable? I’m happy for you to disagree with my opinions, but your interpretations of that graph and reliance on it are almost totally unfounded. I’ll agree that the Republican Party is more populist now than in 1982. I’m not sure it’s twice as populist, but at least there’s an argument. But the idea that the 2018 Republican Party is 3 1/2 times more conservative than the 1982 Republican Party is ridiculous.
One important thing to consider is that who said that when they saw the Democrats motivated to turn out, Republicans would not be more motivated to turn out themselves? That should have been expected: the people who voted for Trump in 2016 were not all the people who would ever vote for Trump.
Notice that it’s looking like the balance of congressional and statehouse results will be to leave things pretty much the same. ISTM that high turnout or no high turnout, the results of 2016 and 2020 are a picture of what our electorate looks like.
That you are very wrong and nitpicking for a fight. Start a new thread if you want that.
Tell people what they want to hear, and you will win them over. Right now people do not want to hear that fossil fuels are bad. How hard would it be for them to just fucking let that issue slide FOR NOW? FOR NOW? It can be addressed down the road. During a campaign, just shut the fuck up about it and don’t say or imply that people working in the industry are going to lose jobs.
And we should wait how long? Until Antarctica and Greenland melt? I’m sure that’s an excellent idea .
Oh my God. You think America is the only polluter in the world? That Russia, China, India, all these huge countries burning coal and gas, don’t matter and that it’s ALL on America’s shoulders to ensure that Antarctica doesn’t melt? Look, I don’t WANT that to happen either, and I want climate change to be addressed because it IS a real thing. But 1. it’s not 100% on America, and 2. DURING A CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT WHEN THE ALTERNATIVE IS DONALD TRUMP AND A VIRUS THAT HE IS WILLFULLY ALLOWING TO SPREAD, maybe just SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THE OIL INDUSTRY!! Jesus!
(a) We don’t trust each other to stick to it.
(b) How much time do you want for your “progress”? – (James Baldwin) Too often our “compromises” mean that the root problem does not get addressed and just continues to fester.
Fossil Fuels do = bad.
But ffs…winning is literally the only thing that matters (the Republicans get this, the Democrats do not) and if you have to sacrifice some purity to get there, then fucking do it.
Once you are in power, deal with the fossil fuels.
Why not just come out against abortion and police reform too?
