Having been a part of that “process” since that very time, all I can say is thank you, thank you very much.
Oh, and it wasn’t just institutionalized racism that got undone. There were a few other inconsequential societal issues being dealt with too. It was in all the papers. But you knew that already, didn’t you?
So you only act like this in private conversations (or anonymous ones), not in public, huh? Wise move. Limits the odds of having your head handed back to you by someone. “Asshole”, am I? Where’s the smiley face for that crack?
There’s also a difference between indoctrination and celebrating a truly momentous event during black history month. This is much ado about nothing unless you have context which provides other incriminating evidence. We’ve got to stop using this petty crap as a distraction from serious issues.
Check out the film Jesus Camp where the kids pray to a cutout of GWB. That’ll turn your stomach, but it’s still petty crap that deserves no notice other than morbid curiosity and feelings of sympathy for those poor kids. Now that’s some serious indoctrination.
I’m so emotionally drained from constantly having to respond to another hysterically screamed claim that “The end of the world is upon us!!” (Trademark, Rightards dot com) that I just can’t respond any more.
For all those playing catch up on the outrage and looking to determine what they should be so angry about it was a song, sung once, in a school assembly that also featured songs about other Presidents, using lyrics given ahead of time to the parents of the students and with nary a word of protest before, during or after the assembly (up until the time it was released as a video to the world). Oh, and the teacher in charge has retired making it unlikely an encore performance will ensue.
Did I miss anything? Because I’m outraged at my lack of outrage.
Apparently some people never went to elementary school, or at least not one that put on performances. There were all kinds of songs about George Washington. Goddamn Federalists!
Are “liberals” responsible for this? Or is it the corporate owned media, which just so happens to sell whatever gets ratings, regardless of how crass and vulgar it is? It’s corporate execs, who get together and look at the Nielson ratings, who decide on TV content, not some secret liberal conspiracy!
I’ve never seen anything resembling Jerry Springer on PBS.
This is an Obama plot. When these kids are old enough to vote they will be programmed to vote for him. That is the aim.
But Obama will be long, long gone. That is a pretty bad plot. The song mentions Obama is the first black pres. Was that being kept from the kids? Is this information their parent have a right to suppress from their brood? It is a little about equal right. Is that something kids should not be taught about?
It is harmless .
