Elite Dangerous

If I was in my Asp, I wouldn’t mind acting as a bodyguard when you do play.

Too far away to be of any assistance and my DB is unarmed.

Well that was foolish.
Left the computer I what I thought was pause , but I am in the open universe, came back a while later and have 2 hrs of super cruise at 2001c to get back to the station. I guess I should just warp out to another system And back

When I know I’ll be away while in super cruise, I simply slow down as much as possible and stay within scooping range of a local star.

Yeah it was an unexpected call, anyways all sorted. My trading is working out badly , so missions it is to earn some cash.

In case you missed this back in post 61:

Thanks!

Glad to help.

BTW: when you’re ready to try trading rare goods, post 62 has a link for plotting those.

I’ve been enjoying the Kaushpoos CGs in recent days. My Vulture Cathartes has served as my bounty hunter, and done very, very well, I might add. It’s been tearing through the NPC pirates like my dog through that box of treats we left within her reach. Here’s my vulture loadout, for those interested. I can swap out the hull upgrade for a 16T cargo rack when I wish to do some smuggling. I also used to run with SCBs, but rarely used them. Although, to be honest, I need at least one to take on an Anaconda one on one. I can swap out the fuel scoop for SCBs.

Anyway, I’m in the top 15% of pirate kills in the CG! Woo-hoo!

I actually have found it faster to earn bounty vouchers in the regular RES, as opposed to HazRES instances. Maybe that’s not surprising—I can survive just fine in the HazRES; it’s just slower. Those Feds helps out a lot.

I also decked out my Asp for mining. Which is very boring, to be honest*. But I’m in the top 33% for Palladium mined for the CG; again, woo-hoo!

I now almost have sufficient funding for my next upgrade, a Federal Assault Ship. Just earned the rank for it. I’m thinking of decking it out as a hybrid smuggler/bounty hunting ship. Probably with a loadout something like this. It ain’t cheap, but the fire power should be impressive. I’ll swap out the fuel scoop for SCBs if I’m doing pure combat.

*ETA: I’ve found I can make by far the most CRs per hour bounty hunting in a RES.

*EATA: Evading an interdict after your canopy has been breached is kind of interesting.

Or, maybe I should go straight for the Imperial Clipper. Rumor has it that stations in the Turir system have the Clipper available with no Imperial rank requirement. (I’m only a squire in the Imperial Navy.) Here’s a possible loudout for the clipper. Only 26 million more credits than the Federal Assault Ship loadout I linked above.

Clipper: less maneuverable, less armor, better shields, almost 10% faster boost, higher jump range, much more cargo, easier to carry SCBs without compromising other internal compartment assignments, for rather more CR required. Cannot land at outposts.

Decisions, decisions.

Of course I don’t quite have the CR to fully outfit either, much less pay the insurance premium…so this is all daydreaming at this point.

Jameson Memorial in Shinrarta Dezhra supposedly has all ships and equipment available at a 10% discount. Thing is, Shinrarta Dezhra requires a permit which is only available upon attaining the rank of Elite.

I’m one rank below in Exploration. Don’t know if I’ll have enough to make the final promotion from Pioneer to Elite when I get back.

Yeah. I’m nowhere near Elite in anything.

3/5 or so home and I’ve taken to using economical jumps for more credits.

I wish they’d add a third option between economy and speed, set at half the maximum range. Or adapt the slider to let commanders choose.

CMDR Zaparthes, freshly reveling in bonuses from the Kaushpoos CGs, now the proud owner of a new Federal Assault Ship, the Thiasos. Currently she’s decked out to fight for the Empire in the new CG in the Cayutorme system. Here’s her current loadout: tank spec for Combat Zones.

The maneuverability for such a massive ship is nothing short of extraordinary. She’s really almost every bit as nimble as my Vulture, with more fire power and the ability to sustain the lasers without draining the cooling capacitor at all. That, combined with rail guns or fixed multi-cannons, means an extreme degree of punishment directed to all targets. (Although, I usually save the rail guns for the most dangerous opponents.)

However, the shields are disconcertingly easy to strip. Luckily, her armor is such that she can sustain a beating without them, and she is fast enough to get away easily if necessary, but it means my repair bill after a fight is a bit on the expensive side, as is the ammo for the rail guns and SCBs.

Conflict Zones certainly accomplish one thing: beating the living heck out of your craft. And the bond payouts are a bit slight. And fighting for the Empire isn’t wonderful. But the Cayutorme Syndicate opposing the Empire seems rather sketchy, at best. Duty calls.

Here’s CMDR Zaparthes’s definitive Anaconda-killing loadout. Slightly different than the above.

Should be back in my Asp on Saturday.

Docked in Ghekreep!

Okay, now I have no clue whatsoever. I’m in a populated Federation system where everything is unexplored.

While on my way to Kaushpoos, I found an outfitter with top of the line components for my Asp. Took five mil but now she has almost the same range as my Diamondback.

Looks like I’m stuck at 70% for the Kaushpoos goals. Had one successful kill while patrolling a Hazardous site then lost my Asp twice.

Docked the Asp and bought a Type-7 for heavy cargo runs. Found two lucrative courier missions that attracted hostiles. Both were to the same dock and I got there late with 13% left on the hull. Still got half the promised fee on one and ¾ on the other.

Looks like my Asp isn’t going to cut it for advancing my combat level. Sold the Type-7 and bought a Python.
