Elona players, help!

Elona is a strainge but cool Rogue-ish game made by some crazy Japanese guy, but it’s very large in interesting. I know there’s some poeple on this board who play it, but the thing seems to have no manual and I can’t quite figure out the controls.

This makes playing the game just a leettle awkward.

How do I pick up items? The guy at the start gives me an Identify scroll, but what do I do with it? I seem to be able to “read” it, but then it vanishes from the ground, doesn’t appear in my inventory, and I can’t seem to pick it up again,

I don’t know anything - I haven’t downloaded the game. It looks like it doesn’t have the Moria “.” command (go in this direction until something interesting happens) which is a pity
