Until recently, i never realized that many people don’t subscribe to every thread they post in. I have my User CP set to subscribe automatically.
Go to ‘Edit Options’ and set Subscriptions to any setting other than ‘Do Not Subscribe’ and you will be automatically subscribed to every thread you post to, and they will appear in your User Control Panel. I prefer not to receive any email notification, so I use ‘No Email Notification’, but you can choose to be notified every time someone posts to your subscribed threads, if you wish.
We’re sorry. Lissener is unable to come to the board right now, as he has just sawed off his own head with a KFC spork after searching for over an hour–in “300 second” increments–for evidence of the above referenced thread, but was unable to find any. His last words were a challenge to anyone else to find the thread, because he’s absolutely positive he did not imagine it.

Wait HOW does one do a vanity search? The only thing I can think to do is set up a regular search for my username in all forums. But somehow I don’t think that’s what y’all are talking about?

Go to advanced search, put your user name in quotes inside the keyword field, then hit search.
Or so I’ve heard. 
Quotes not necessary unless your name includes a space.

That’s all i do. I stick mhendo into the little dropdown Search box, and hit enter.
Then, when a list of threads appears, i can easily see if there are any threads that mention me, but that i have not participated in, because the ones where i have participated have a little box indicating that fact.
Here’s a screenshot of a vanity search i just did. As you can see, there are actually three recent threads where my name was mentioned, but where i did not post. That’s an unusually high number (for me, anyway) and is largely a product of the recent debates over Rule #2.
Since I rarely need to search twice in a row, I don’t see how that’s relevant. Maybe you misspell your own name a lot.

Clearly that wasn’t nice of me. I could have made my point without bringing them into it. Shortly thereafter I had a substantive discussion with Redfury on another subject. So that was an unkind turn I did him.
