Email Coldfire.
I work for a Dutch company but I’ll be damned if I’m going to ask a bunch of guys how to translate that.
Psst… click on the winkie in my previous post.
Thank you dantheman … email sent !
Lieu, why not? It would make you seem all sentimental.
You see Lazarus7, I split the back of my trousers this morning. If I walk into the break room and ask a bunch of other guy how to say “I miss you and will always love you” in Dutch and then walk out waving the Calvin flag, they’re gonna send my sentimental ass on a journey.
ah …
lol
ok … sorry to hear that but I can understand your reasoning now.
Thank you !!
smile
Might still want to wait to hear from Coldfire, who actually IS Dutch. Sometimes those online translators lose a little of the nuance (and I got an error while I was doing it, so…) .
I am not Dutch but I would translate it a little bit less formal:
Ik mis je en zal altijd van je houden
<snik>:D
Thank you again!
you might want to add a ‘kusje’ meaning ‘kiss’
I have since gotten an email from Coldfire as well …
Thank you all for your assistance … this has meant a lot to me.
Awwww. Good luck.
Hope [s]he replies: Ik mis je ook en hou ook van jou. violin music
Well, what did Coldie say’s the correct translation for it?
I was told:
“Ik mis je en zal altijd van je houden”
(the same as Zweistein … which is usually a good sign)
(kase … I hope so too … but sadly I doubt it as this is for an obituary in the paper … today is two years since my mother passed away)
Lazarus I’m very sorry.
I’m sure your mother loves you forever.
Thank you …
Of course, being someone who does not believe in an afterlife, or a continuation of the essense/spirit/soul beyond the life of the body, I find solace in other ways.
