Enterprise Dawn Spoilers

A pretty decent episode. And ripping off other science fiction for story lines goes back to the days of TOS, e.g., “The Doomsday Machine” and Fred Saberhagen’s “Berserker” stories.

Did anyone else catch Trip’s little dig at the beginning: “Hey, if we get this autopilot working, Mayweather will have even less dialogue!” Is that even possible?

so how often do submarines send out their chief engineer alone to test autopilots on speedboats?

Tars… Are you mixing threads?

Yes, fortunately. I just hope I can remember to watch.

Hey, Kn(thought it was cute that the alien mistook “Dammit” as Trip’s name)ckers, when my brother and I were kids, we thought I was Jesus Christ and my bubber was Damn It. 'Cause that’s how Daddy would always address us. When I wouldn’t come in from playing one day, my dad yells to me, “Damn It! Get in here!” Looking at Paw, I say, “But Daddy. I’m Jesus Christ!”

Yeah, I channeling the ghost of Bill Cosby. Just imagine how funny it would’ve been if you hadn’t heard it before.

Kind of like this episode. Man, what a round about way to make a point, no?

So, more reruns next week? Is it just me, or do they have rerun fever, lately? Man, I feel like it’s summer, or something. Only colder.

Summer in the Southern Hemisphere, then.

Dude, I HADN’T heard it before, and you had me all giggling over this cute story from your childhood, and then went and spoiled it. Fool.

Maybe Enterprise should have taken a leaf from Bill Cosby’s book, and had the alien think he was Dammit. Only that would make no sense at all, on so many levels.

Man, I wish I had an excuse for being so stupid. I’m going to have to start telling people I’m on drugs.

Summer in the Southern Hemisphere is still Summer, little girl.

Hot.

It’s just that their Summer is in January and stuff.

Fighting ignorance is hard.

Love your shoes, baby. I always liked those kind of high heels. No no no no, don’t take 'em off… leave 'em on. A little more to right…

Is this politics?
I hate politics…

God dammit. I feel like it’s JULY then. Only colder. JULY in the Southern Hemisphere.

I’m sure glad I’m not Star Trek - I’d get nitpicked to hell and back.

Hell, where it’s warm all year round.

Just don’t start a Ghost Dad appreciation thread ::shudders::

Has anyone else noticed that most of the posts to Enterprise threads are devoted to flirting and creating outrageous “spoiler” scenarios? Let’s face it: that says something about the series, and it ain’t good.

This one was okay, but only because it featured Trip and he’s the best thing about the show (plus I have the hots for him). I’m approaching apathy real fast. Bakula can’t act, I don’t like Jolene, the sets are boring and colorless, there’s little/no humor, the stories are rip-offs of other ST and sci-fi series, too many re-runs, etc., etc.
Bring back Voyager!

Well, I intend them to be real spoilers.
It’s all Tars Tarkas fault.
Bringing back Voyager is fine.

I must agree that Bakula isn’t very good for the role.
Trinneer did do well in this episode, but some goes to the writers, too. Stuck in the Good Guys role for the series has limitations in setting up conflict as well as resolving it. Captain Reynolds runs afoul of something rather straight forwardly while stealing something. A complex and/or unlikely plot is needed to get the Enterprise Good Guys in trouble. Trek uses technology and Firefly avoids it, which also makes for difficulty.
But I digress.
Throwing the the weapon away was good. Not once, but twice. Hell, I’d of shot the scaly SOB the first time I saw him. He tried to kill me. I wish they’d found a more plausible reason for transporter/shuttle pod failure. With the transporter experimental or nearly so, it seems that mechanical failure would be reasonable. One of the major technology faults Trek or any Sci fi series has is that once you accept faster than light travel, more “unbelievable” things easily follow. The alien commander, while making more progress with Archer than the Vulcans, was still as ass. Perhaps a cultural thing, and believable if we are going to believe anything after FTL. Perhas Enterprise will run into these aliens again. There was some effort given to realism for them, more than the Gorn or the never seem Reivers.

Speaking of Firefly, it is being pushed for the Sci-Fi channel now, UPN having turned it down. Send postcards in these post anthrax days if you would like.

Bumpin’ this thread back up for the coming rerun.

Best things about this ep:

Sweaty Trip.
Several crotch shots.
Dirty Trip.
“Maybe if you vomit on it, it’ll fix itself.”
Half-naked Trip.

You forgot “Trip§ kicks ass”.

I haven’t been watching the reruns because there are so few worth watching a second time, but I’m glad you bumped this one – it’s worth watching for those five reasons alone! Thanks viva.

You are quite right, 'plant. TriP kicks lizard ass!!!

Hello there, Sycorax. Where ya been?
Here’s an interesting campaign

When does the new season start? I know it was your idea to tape the shows for me (and I thank you again) but I feel like an NCB moochin’ off of you like this.
I said mooching, perverts. Not smooching. He probably wouldn’t know how that feels. :dubious:

Hey viva - I’m afraid I got a little fed up with the so-called spoilers and horsing around and just gave up on these threads. At one point there were two threads on the same ep, I ended up posting to the wrong one (which I thought was the “serious” one), and said the hell with it. Plus, as I said, I haven’t been watching the reruns. When I got the e-mail notice on yours, I couldn’t resist checking it out.

Like my post? :o
