Hoshi was in her quarters, hearing Tarquin’s voice, and she turns around only to find herself in his castle…
Well from now on, you see, she’s still in her quarters and he’s still projecting these scenes into her mind. The rest of the Enterprise series is all in Hoshi’s and Tarquin’s mind, and any panda you see is all a product of their imagination as well.
And one year, when she wakes up, she looks around and she’s in J.R. Ewing’s bed. And she wakes up screaming, looks around, and finds she’s in Bob Newhart’s bed…
I agree that it wasn’t the best episode (though far from the worst).
I wouldn’t have a problem with the spheres having gravity that is stronger than it should be from their size (didn’t they say that they emitted “gravametic waves”, whatever the heck they are), but tell us about it and be consistent about it - the shuttle spun away like it would seem to without gravity, then started back much too quickly and bounced much too gently.
As for the plot - Eh. But I will give them credit. At least they’re trying to make some of the stories about the people. They’re just not very good at it.
Hmmm. I just had a thought. We’ve commented about how Hoshi can translate some of these things much too quickly and easily. The bit with the “egg” seems to indicate that she has telepathic potential at least. That might make sense. Partial telepathy would make learning new languages much easier. Any bets on whether or not it was done on purpose?
I think this episode foreshadows Hoshi laying an egg in season 4, and becoming a chicken in season 5. She will then be sued by the San Diego Chicken, and have a fight with him suring season 6. Season 7 will involve a race of half-chicken, half-men who roam the galaxy looking for Mr. Goodbar.
