Uh, haven’t seen it yet, i taped it last night while at class, gonna watch it tonight!
It’s great. I’m not gonna spoil it for you, but I’ll never look at Hoshi the same way again…
Whadda ya mean Lodrain? We already knew she was claustrophobic. (Unless you mean that other thing…)
Yeah, that other thing - which did nothing for me personally. Can we make Tucker do that, next time? Or Archer?
Kn(Mmmm, spacemen)ckers
“the other thing” was not too exciting. Like Deana Troi, Hoshi does nothing for me. Our vulcan science officer though. . . .
The show on the other hand was good. Not sure how many time travel episodes I can take though.
I kept waiting for Archer to say, “800 years in the future! But one can only time travel within one’s own lifespan!”
And just how many people know the combination to Daniels’ quarters, anyway?
I didn’t know the communication thing with Future Man could be used as a portal.
Ahhh…I love the new fall season.
Suliban - Taliban.
Any connection?
SPOILERS below:
Time travel stories don’t work unless you adhere to some very carefully imagined rules, like explaining why you can’t fix mistakes you made when traveling into the past by simply traveling further into the past and preventing yourself from making them.
Brannon Braga is clearly fascinated by time travel, but he never bothers to establish such rules for himself. At best his episodes end with a push of the Reset button; at worst there are holes in plot and logic big enough to drive a Borg cube through. In either case it’s not good storytelling.
As for “Shockwave:” more topless Hoshi, please.
Wasn’t it Malcolm who set the lock on Daniels’ quarters in the first place? Besides, Archer could’ve given the combo to T’Pol while he was talking to her from the future. (I loved the lines she had under the influence of whatever the Suliban drugged her up with. “You’re on the ceiling…why aren’t you on a monitor?”)
The communication thing with Future Guy can’t be used as a portal. Remember, Daniels stated that the enemy did not posess the ability to travel through time, just communicate through it, so Silik would’ve been unfamiliar with portal technology - he even pleaded with who he thought was FG to help him figure out how to use the device. Silik lost contact with FG when the future got fucked up. Malcolm allowed himself to get caught taking a portal device from Daniels’ quarters because Archer and Daniels knew Silik would assume it was a communications device and try to use it to communicate with FG. This is also why Archer vaporized the portal controls with the Suliban weapon he took from Silik - can’t allow that sort of thing to fall into enemy hands, and Silik saw it act as a portal with his own eyes.
So Hoshi is claustraphobic and yet has no quams travelling around in a completely sealed environment? Maybe I’m wrong but isn’t part of clautrophobia a fear of enclosed spaces, not small spaces.
Oh well at least she can lose a shirt well.
Hmmm more annoying nod and wink throwaway line.
“The Romulan Star Empire?”
Really, I think Topless Hoshi should be a regular and central part of the series. I’d gladly give up all these darn time travel episodes for that.
Thanks, Kilt for setting me straight. I have Dish, and the UPN affiliate was added halfway through the season, so I missed some episodes.
Hoshi was reluctant to join the mission to begin with, but Capt. Archer persuaded her because he needed her skills. They’ve already shown on several occasions how uncomfortable Hoshi is in space.
Can someone explain the last scene to me? The line Archer says as he enters T’Pol’s quarters (something about being discreet) was very strange.
There was something else I found weird about it, but now that the boards are finally up (two days later), I can’t remember what else they talked about.
Maybe I was reading too much into it anyway.
I think you put it over the top. Is that what you’re thinking, flyboy?
Yeah, that was it. Thanks, Gundy. What the heck were they talking about? And why was Archer worried about one of the crewmen seeing him going into T’Pol’s quarters?
“I think your arguement convinced them to let us continue our mission. Your efforts carried our pleading over the top of the obstacle.”
He was joking that people might think they had a tryst going; all the more humorous since she is a Vulcan who would neither have a night time romantic interlue nor appreciate the joke. Humor- it is a difficult concept.
Yeah…
But who would have guessed Vulcan’s have some damn cute belly buttons.
Man oh man.
How long have they been letting they say things like “ugly bastard” on TV?
Now I can talk about my friends in interviews.
Outies have nver done anything for me.
^:)^
