Er 2/10

Sara Gilbert’s character’s name is Jane. And I’m betting that later in the year, she’s going to come out as a homosexual.

However, her character has commented that Dr. Kovac is hot. So who knows? Maybe she and Neela will get together to get over their joint crush on Luka. But more likely Neela and Ray will hook up since they are mismatched roommates, who, by a rule that all members of the WGA must follow, will end up having sex.

I’m not - I was really hoping they were going to hook her up with that semi-obnoxious surgeon dude (can’t remember his name). I think there is real chemistry there, unlike with the guy they have her with now.

On Joey last night his neighbor got drunk and confessed to fantasing about Noah Wyle during sex with her husband. Joey’s sister commented that she could see George Clooney, the hot Czech doctor or even the cute Indian girl, heck I’m straight and I think I’d probably pick the cute Indian girl.

Sara Gilbert’s character is a medical student, not an intern. Abby, Neela, and Guitar Guy are interns (aka “first-year residents”); Pratt is a resident. (The common nomenclature in my program is “intern” for first-year residents, and “upper-level” for second- and third-years.)

I thought the bit with Kerry’s mother was a bit ham-handed; in particular, “So they never knew you made this choice?” was way too pointed and unnatural for an initial reaction. There were great moments, though, and I liked this overall.

ER is way more of a medical drama this season than it has been in recent years. I’m glad that when they’re focusing on personal lives, they’re making it worthwhile.

There was a show about two weeks ago where two “John Does” were brought into the ER, both young black men about the same age. One died and one survived with serious injuries. Jane assisted with both patients. When the families of the young men were brought in, no one else realized there were two John Does, and they were each sent to the wrong man. The parents of the injured man were sent to the morgue to ID his body and the parents (or grandmother?) of the dead man was sent to the room where the injured man was. Massive screw-up and screaming ensues.
Jane quietly mentioned that she knew there were two John Does and knew which one was which, and that the familys were being sent to the wrong places, but that, “… no one listens to me.”
Since then it seems like everyone has given her more respect. I’ve also gotten the impression that she’s very bright and very capable, but since she’s so quiet and unassuming, no one realizes it.

Wait a minute – I thought Sissy Spacek was supposed to play Weaver’s mom. (I remember thinking that she was a good choice because of the physical similarity.) What happened?

Explanation here (look under “Notes”).

Me too. Who is that guy? He’s interesting.

I get no chemistry vibe with Abby and Jake/George either. He looks remarkably like one of Ted Bundy’s incarnations.

That would be Dr. Dubenko (first name unknown) played by Leland Orser.

First showed his face in the *ER * last October, and has a long list of credits playing one-off bit parts and “guest” appearances. Appears to be somewhat of a *Star Trek * fan as he’s made appearances in *Enterprise, Voyager * and DS9.

He was also in Saving Private Ryan. He’s the pilot of the plane that was supposed to drop the parachutists, and unbeknownst to him, since he was flying a general, they reinforced the bottom of his plane with steel plating, throwing off the weight of the craft something terrible.

I always thought his scene was very well played. You could tell he was keeping it together by the skin of his teeth, but the death of all those soldiers was going to haunt him forever.

He was also Thrusty McSlashalot in Se7en.

IIRC, it was Clooney, Eric LaSalle, or Neela. And Kovac is Croatian, not Czech.

I thought they said it was Pick’s Disease, which also causes dementia but is not Alzheimer’s.

Oh, well. Very minor thing.

Yeah, it was Pick’s. At one point, Bratt, er uh Pratt, was tasked with teaching Jane the difference between Pick’s and Alzheimer’s.

Yeah - that guy! As AuntiePam said below - he’s interesting! And I really thought they were leaning towards hooking him up with Abby when he kept being hard on her to teach her that she’s a good doctor and when he gave her that Secret Santa gift. I sure hope they change their minds - I just don’t feel anything between Abby and that student.

Sorry, I did not memorize it word for word. I knew Kovac was Croatian but I didn’t think the character on Joey did and frankly I just wasn’t sure who she named second, the point was the mention of the Indian girl and I’m pretty sure she didn’t use her actual character name.

Aaah. My bad. Still, funny stuff.
I don’t know about Dubenko. There’s something creepy about him. I can’t really put my finger on it.

IIRC, it was “Clooney, Eric LaSalle, or the new Indian chick”. I wasn’t watching Joey closely, but that line caught my ear.
