Have any of you eaten nutria meat?
No. I have eaten other rodents though, including muskrat, squirrel, guinea pig, paca, and Polynesian rat.
My favorites are guinea pig and paca. I wouldn’t go out of my way to have rat again, though.

Yes. At wild game night at my local Rotary Club (I’m on the Eastern Shore of MD) Lots of little, bitty bones. Taste was “meh”, and texture was a bit dry and fibrous but edible. IMO needs to be in a stew or similar. Not all that great as a stand alone meat.
When we were living near Houston, Mrs. J. fished a nutria out of the swimming pool once (it displayed little gratitude).
Shoulda broiled it while we had the chance.
