Everybody Ought to Have an MMP

I suspect I’m not the only one interested in this recipe.

List? He’s beyond Double Secret Probation at this point.

Watched Doctor Who, :D.

Ruble, they are showing Classic Tom Baker episodes on BBCA in the morning now. You never forget your 1st Doctor.

Gins: Leopold’s and The Botanist Islay Dry Gin are both very good. The Rogue Spruce gin was a disappointment.

Tonics: my favorite is Fentimans. “Q” tonic is also interesting, as is Fever Tree.

I’m off to have a Fentiman’s and Botanist.

Mooom, I could picture swampyin drawers with duckies or teddy bears. :stuck_out_tongue:

: potty clap: for Gordie.

I started out thi morning wit the goal of assembling a shelving unit that I bought (new in the box) at a yard sale. It was pressboard and I really wasn’t expecting anything beyond functional.I got it all together and went to move it when it collapsed into a pile of boards. The pressboard was crumbling, which leads me to believe that it had gotten wet at some point.

I managed to salvage three of the long boards to assemble a brick and board setup. Almost everything is back where it belongs now. There’s a couple of hours of work for tomorrow and hauling the scrap and the Goodwill boxes out. I’s tahred.

Good morning! Apparently Higgs is programmed to be up at 5, weekend or not. So I’m up. I went to bed early last night but could NOT sleep. Tonight might be a melatonin night. We shall see.

Being too lazy to fetch the cookbook (Better Homes - the one with the red and white checked cover) I’ll give you the gist.

Ham-potato scallop

2 cups cubed ham
3-4 sliced potatoes - kinda depends upon the size
1 medium onion - sliced or diced as you prefer
1 cup frozen peas (not in the original recipe, but I add them anyway)

2 cups milk
1/3 cup flour
3-4 drops tabasco (also not original, but my option)

1 T butter, melted
3T bread crumbs (I used Italian seasoned but plain will do)
Parsley (I don’t bother with this myself - your choice)

Preheat oven to 350°

Spread half of the ham in the bottom of a casserole dish
spread a layer of half the potatoes on that
spread half the onions on that
spread half the peas on that
repeat with remaining half of the ingredients

combine flour and milk into a smooth blend. mix in tabasco if desired. Pour over contents of casserole dish

Cover and place in oven for 60-75 minutes - until potatoes are tender.

Remove from oven.

Mix butter and bread crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over casserole. Sprinkle parsley if desired. Return to oven, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Let it cool about 10 minutes before trying to eat. Yum.

I’ve always made it with sliced N.O.T. but spousal unit asked me to use chunks next time - it would be easier to eat. I also slice the onions, but I’m thinking chopped might work better, too. In fact, you could probably mix the first 4 ingredients together, then dump them into the dish. I think I’ll try that next time.

Not sure what the day will hold. We shall see…

Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 81 and cloudy for the day. Rain is allegedly on the way for a few days this week. We shall see.

Deheathenization is the only big thing on the agenda today. I have ush duty for the Whiskypalian service. Rah.

I shall have to go investigate ruble’s link. Sounds like I’ll really like it or be appalled.

OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, at some point, purtification for deheathenization must occur.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

ETA: I looked. Neither impressed nor appalled. I knew y’all would want to know.

Up, caffeinated, off today. I shall watch football and hockey. I found an unfilled can of beer in my case last night.:dubious:

Sounds like an order at a cannibal restaurant. But I shall look out for those tonics.

blurf

Mmmmm, Peter Davison. Now I want to watch Castrovalva. Mainly because I want to see Adric caught in a web.

Why do my favorite companions always die? :frowning:

We had a very nice breakfast in Leonardtown. I’ll be returning to the area between 1 and 5 when the gym is open. Other than that, no plans to speak of. Netflix, here I come!!

Getting ready to start laundry and grocery shop before jumping back into the studio rearranging. But first, more coffee.

BLURF. UP, showered, bed changed, laundry started, dishwasher loaded.

Cooking a roast chicken and veggies today. Raining and looks like it may hang around for a few days.

Happy Sunday.

It’s not so sunny today.

Lot’s to do today, none of it fun.

I should like to substitute “New Jersey” for my unfortunate mention of a beautiful, enchanting place name in a previous post.

Howdy Y’all! Home from deheathenization and ush duty. We stopped at MickeyD’s drive thru and got dollah menu burgers 'n fries which have been ingested. OYKW went to his place to deal with some irk paperirk stuff, poor thing. I envision some nappage shortly. ‘Tis dreary and dreary out and the temp is still the same as first thing this mornin’. I would open up windows in da cave except it’s also really hyooooooomid out.

Laterz!

So in an effort to weasel out of your insult to Rosie & Soapy, you go onto to insult the [del]jackbooted thugs[/del] wonderful mods as I believe both Loach & Hal Briston are from NJ. :smack:
Do I sense a swinging of the Ban Hammer[sup]TM[/sup]?

The sun has sorta peeked thru a few times, but mostly, it’s been dreary. I’ve been Netflixin’ and afghanin’ and I just finished a late lunch of egg salad. Shortly, I will build 2 meatloaves for the freezer.

I don’t feel like going to the gym today, so I’ll go after work tomorrow.

Too lazy to do much of anything productive.

I’m spending a lazy Sunday whittling down the Uncontrollable To-Read Pile and taking care of odds ‘n ends. It keeps looking like it wants to rain outside, but so far nothing. That’s fine by me since my ol’ gimpy foot has been acting up this week and I need to rest it.

Last night I had a guest. A brown tabby with tufted ears kept looking in my window, so I let her in. She wandered around the house for a while and then hopped outside again. Nice friendly kitty.

So I went to Kroger for beer and groceries, and stopped at Pet Supermarket. One of the conures was following me inside his(her?) cage. he was shaking the padlock when I was by the cage door. I think he wanted me to adopt him.

Supper is in progress. The sausage is simmering and the kraut is draining. Onions are chopped. Pseudo apple dumplings are baking (recipe someone shared on FB - we’ll see how it works.)

I’ve got about 20 minutes to kill.

**FCD **is not happy - Dallas quit playing in the second half of their game. Such is life.

Dreariness continues…
