“Netflix will start coverage of the full fight card at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 15. The exact ringwalk and fight time for Tyson vs. Paul is not yet determined, as the other fights on the card could serve as variables.”
NBC News article dated today corroborated the 8pm Eastern time:
“Mike Tyson is set to face Jake Paul in a boxing match at 8 p.m. ET Friday on Netflix, but the fireworks started early. In their final faceoff prior to the bout, “Iron Mike” slapped the social media star before security jumped in to separate the opponents.”
And at today’s weigh in, Tyson slapped Paul.

I remember the Trevor Berbick fight when Tyson won his first championship. It was comical in the 2nd round when Berbick stumbled repeatedly. And then the fight was stopped.
I’m now picturing a bunch of guys at a sports bar: big screens all around ‘em, but suddenly they’re all huddling around the warm glow of the one phone there that has the Netflix app…
Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Back in the day Tyson was such a fearsome competitor, and the way he quickly dispatched his opponents was crazy. I hope he makes a good showing. I have Netflix, but I hope I remember to tune in.
I’m thinking of that episode of the Simpsons where Homer becomes a boxer and gets put up against their Tyson expy where all he has to do is last three rounds because “fans are tired of fights being over before they have a chance to get drunk.” Of course he lasts all of about half a round.
I’m leaning that way. Even if he still has the power that is offset by the thicker gloves. On the other hand from what I’ve seen of Paul he has some serious holes in his defense. He is in phenomenal shape and seems to take his training seriously. He will have stamina advantage. I’m not convinced enough either way to put money on it.
I expect Paul to try to run away and clinch his way through the fight. Even if Tyson has a good strategy to put in play his past provides no sign that he’d follow through with it.
14 oz. gloves are lighter than Tyson used most of the time to knock out all those guys he faced, heavyweights traditionally wore 16 oz. gloves. The lighter weight is an advantage to both guys stamina-wise. As are 2 minute rounds. Those things make it easier for Paul to stay on the run, yet I’m sure that Tyson can still knock him out if he can get close to him for long enough. If Mike pulls the trigger Paul goes down.
According to Ariel Helwani (the guy with the mic at the presser),Tyson slapped Paul because Paul stepped on Tyson’s toes. Tyson mentioned in a previous interview with Dan Patrick that he could beat a UFC opponent if they didn’t step on his feet. He’s had surgery on them, and according to Tyson, both feet look like they’ve been blown up.
What is your support for that? For boxing/kickboxing we always used 16 oz for sparring and amateur bouts, but my understanding was that pros used much lighter gloves, around 10 -12 oz.
