Those other bouts are filling the time between the start of the show and the main event on which the show is based and the only reason almost everybody is watching. That’s why it’s filler.
Filler would be a bunch of talking heads blathering about the fight like the Super Bowl pregame. This is actual boxing matches before a bigger boxing match. Like how literally every other big boxing match is done. Boxing fans love this
I can’t easily support it because looking online nobody can support any claim about the size gloves heavyweight boxers use. The results vary from 8 oz. to 18 oz. My only support is the reporting I saw on past boxing matches, hundreds of them. The problem is that boxing journalism is full of bullshit, just like every other aspect of the game. So all I can say is that traditionally heavyweight boxers were reported to use 16 oz. gloves.
My bet: the fight starts normally, with Paul dominating out of the gate, until he tries to pull a YouTube-style “prank” on Tyson, like mooning him or kicking his shins, at which point Tyson will snap and kill him by biting through his carotid artery.
Setting aside the absurdity of boxing weigh-ins, my big takeaway was that Tyson still looks scary fast. I have no idea what kind of shape he’s in, how is aging body has held up, how strong his punches are going to be…but at least based on that little clip, and a handful of staged sparring clips over the last few months, Tyson is still a skilled and lightning-fast boxer. I know Jake Paul has a decent power punch, but based on the tiny bit of his fights I’ve seen, he can’t match that skill.
I’m not going to make a prediction since I’m not really a serious boxing fan, but I will say that if Tyson is able to stay in close and snap off those insanely fast combos Paul will be in for a tough night.
You encouraged me to try my own Googl-fu, and the results I turned up generally said 8 oz for lighter weight classes and 10 oz for heavier. Including the Nevada Athletic Commission.
If you get a chance, I’d like to see who says any pros use 16 or - gasp - 18 oz gloves.
A coworker stopped by one of the local books and told me the line was Paul -200. Seems high to me, but I can’t imagine making any sort of bet on this sort of craziness. It’s no better than a prop bet.

I wasn’t planning on watching but I turned it on. Not great so far. Goyat throwing a lot of punches but they don’t look like there is much behind them.
I don’t know shit about boxing but I think that Goyat is winning.
