I agree with this. It does seem like the ‘slip’ wasn’t necessarily a slip based on knowledge from the Scumboard (unless NAF is a human Scum). However, I’m willing to keep my vote on peeker due to his reactions since the bandwagon built on him. (and completely not out of spite for the recent game on Giraffe)
The first Evil Dead had a lie detector role. That person could ask to test the veracity of a statement made by a player. Having everyone state this does provide a lie detector the ability to test this.
I’m certain that I’m not the only one who has been thinking along these lines as we’ve all made the statements. This might make it important for everyone to make this statement.
I tried to take it in the Day to use…not at Night.
I’ve noticed a few haven’t yet…among them, Telcontar.
Come on, Telcontar…what you have to worry about?
<snipped>
He’s referring to the number of times a Vanilla PM has been posted. Once by story, once by **Oredigger **and once by NAF

Oh, and that reminds me of the one (admittedly minor) question I have about Idle’s claim.
You claimed that you were doing the same thing I was–trying to get the book by PMing a request to steal it from everyone in the game. Seeing as you trust NAF, and therefore trust what he has to say about the book, why would you try to take it given that in order to use it, you would have to give up your rather important power?
That happened during the Day, after **NAF **claimed to have lost the book. **Idle **is claiming a Night Power and wouldn’t have to forfeit that power to grab the book during the Day.
On preview: **Idle **has pointed this out.

I mentioned it in my “I don’t have the book” post way back at #1260
Still non-committal about the book:
* Oy!
* Telecontar
* Omi no Kami
* Hal Briston
* lilflower
On another topic. We should discuss how best to advise** Oy! **in the use (or saving) of his items for Tonight while we have some time left.
Here’s the original list:

POWERS:
On any given Night, you may choose to use any of the items below to cast a spell targeting the player of your choice. The spell will permanently consume the item; if you run out of items, you run out of powers.
Small Mirror - With this small mirror, you may cast an enchantment on yourself to make you resemble another player. For that Night, any actions targeting you will fail. Any actions targeting your target will affect you instead.
Blue Crystal - Use this item and you will be able to observe the player of your choice in his/her travels for that Night, and learn his or her target.
White Powder - With this item, you may cast a spell rendering the player of your choice stronger and more skillful; any actions attempted by this player on the Night after you cast the spell will succeed, even if the player is role-blocked or otherwise prevented from acting (a player operating under the influence of the White Powder will be able to penetrate the illusion generated by the Small Mirror, #1 above). You may use the white powder on yourself, if you wish.
Clay Doll - With this item, you may cast a spell that will reveal the role name and generic power description (but not alignment) of a player of your choice. The spell creates a bond between you and the targeted player, such that he or she will know that you have targeted them with an investigative ability.
Small, Fragile Flower - Gift a player (including yourself) with this small, fragile flower and that player will be immune to Night kills for one Night at his or her discretion. A full Night of wearing the flower will cause it to wilt. Also note: the flower functions to protect a player only if no other actions are directed against that player during the Night.
Incense - There’s nothing magical about this stuff; it just stinks. Burn it in your room overnight and the scent will overpower any living being who attempts to target you with any action, repelling them and saving your life. Deadites, being from the bleakest, foulest pits of a Demon Dimension (Newark, NJ, to be specific), don’t mind the smell and will not be affected.
Oy! says he’s used the ‘protection’ which I assumed to mean he used #5. Small, fragile flower. But my reading of that description means that the player he gifts it to can use it whenever s/he wants and not necessarily the Night it was given so it’s effect may not yet be known. Is this correct Oy! and is this your interpretation of the description too?
Thanks for clarifying, Diver. Now if Normal can just find a post that Diver has missunderstood somewhere, the universe will be back in karmic alignment.

That’s misterunderstood, thankyouverymuch!
unvote Idle
And all this talk of role fishing is BS. NAF had told us that the book would make him investigate as scum to a cop, and said something about twisting his role description, which would also make him look scum to a role cop, so why in blazes would anyone have thought your change of mind was due to an investigation? That’s part of why it attracted so much attention, there was no sensible way I could see to explain your change of heart.
Understandable…but as Normal Phase and I pointed out, actual scum would have known I wasn’t pulling anything scummy (since they’d know I wasn’t scum). So I think their default thought would have been “Possible investigator”.
So really…the line between “Be suspicious of Idle because we think he could be scum” (as Town) and “Find a reason to vote for Idle because we think he could be an investigator” (as scum) is hard to distinguish between.
Same goes for the Town “Let’s question Idle about his suspicious behavior” and the Scum “Let’s question Idle to see if we can get any better Investigator tells from him”.
Chances are, they’d look pretty much the same. This is why I’m using combined things (your waffling votes, Guiri’s Romantic call out and quick change of heart, and Telcontar’s suspicious behavior on Day one) to narrow it down.
Time for bed for me.
My name is Romanic.

[apologies for posting as a dead player :)]
There are some decidedly unromantic ghosts haunting this cabin. Blew out our candles AND ate all the brie.
I’m still waiting to hear back from storyteller about subbing out, but while I’m still officially in, for the record I do not have the book.
Just trying to help. ^^
But actual Scum likely would have just kept their mouth shut, tried to deflect attacks against you (or just stayed out of it) and then just kill you tonight. Drawing attention draws potential protection.

Again, I am a she-type creature.
I do not know whether or not the recipient of the flower had to use it the Night it was given (although I kind of had the impression that s/he did, but that was solely from the precise text you quoted, so not confirmed by Story, just a guess on my part), but I did give it to a player last Night. That player is not yet dead. For all I know, the player could pass it on to someone else if s/he hasn’t used it yet. I’m realizing now that I didn’t ask Story enough about the flower.
I am open to suggestions as to what Power to use toNight.
I do not have the Book.
I do not have the book.
I’m happy with my vote on **peeker **right now and for the same reasons I stated when I first voted for him (his lack of defense) as well as his subsequent actions. He’s also being very quiet which is unlike **peeker **(at least when I’ve played with him).
All of this assuming Oy is town –
The small mirror might be an attractive choice – with as many people left in the game as there are, your chances of finding someone to disguise yourself as who has nothing aggressive directed at them remain good. But just the potentiality of you using it is almost as good a deterrent as actually using it. If/when you do protect yourself this way, consider you may not want to let anyone know.
The blue crystal, used to track Idle, would preserve the integrity of his information (or confirm the lack thereof if he were roleblocked and hence could go nowhere) even if he winds up dead and hasn’t touched a Deadite – it’s an attractive synergy in that way (assuming he does name his target shortly before Dawn). But it’s pointless if he does get a Deadite, or does not die.
You could also take your best shot at tracking a killer, but the odds are not yet terrific.
You could use the white powder to ensure a successful action for someone tomorrow night, if you can figure out an appropriate target (still alive, has power that can be interfered with, might actually be interfered with) – this one’s a crap shoot.
Clay doll – this one confirms its use to the player targeted, so be cautious as regards keeping your secrecy about the small mirror. I can’t think of any downside to using this, on almost anyone, though you’ll have to use your own judgment on whether or not to reveal what you’ve found.
Incense – partial protection only, not sure what to say about this one.
If we’re assuming both Oy! and** Idle** as town the small mirror would be excellent to be used on Idle - you would redirect any actions from him to you. If those actions include both a kill and a protect nothing would happen unless something similar to the white powder is used.
Meanwhile, I’m okay with my current vote for Plankton because he completely ignored it.
Thank you for your suggestions. Please note that I’m not about to say what, if anything, I am going to do toNight.
