Evil TV Show - anyone watching

Ha! You knew I’d get sucked in, didn’t you?

As indeed I did. I am almost done with Season 1, just Episode 13 left.

I really started getting into it after my earlier post expressing some ambivalence, which was after watching the first two episodes. I was totally hooked by around Episode 5. Not to reveal any major spoilers, but that was the one where Leland Townsend tries to insinuate himself into Kristen’s family, and it’s also the Halloween-themed one with the Little Girl Who Wouldn’t Take Off Her Halloween Mask. For a series that doesn’t shy away from creating SFX monsters, the mask thing was done with masterful subtlety. The Room 320 episode (#11) was also very well done with masterful ambiguity.

I’m gratified that Evil was renewed for a fourth season, and am looking forward to being able to binge-watch seasons 2 and 3. This is what I love about discovering a great series later in its evolution, when multiple seasons have been queued up! I just hope they can maintain the same standards. Again, all I’ve seen so far have been the first 12 of 13 episodes of the first season.

Just an incidental note. I happened to see in one of the recent episodes that I watched that one of the credited actors was Peter Scolari. As a big fan of Newhart (the series centered around the Vermont inn that ran between 1982 and 1990) I’m very familiar with the name, though wasn’t sure it was the same actor. Turns out, it sure was, and although at first glance he was unrecognizable as the Bishop in Evil, it was the same guy who decades previously had played the “MIchael” character on Newhart. He was diagnosed with luekemia and died shortly after his final appearance on that last series.

Yes. It was nice to see him again, and sad to lose him.
