Excellent revelation, Levi Johnston!

There’s a difference between leaving an office for a higher office, with more responsibility, for which there is only one opening and is only offered once every four years, and leaving an office for something that can be done any time and for which there is only one candidate.

Are you serious with this comparison?

Obama didn’t resign his Senate seat until he’d already been elected President. He didn’t bail out on it. That’s the way things are normally done. No one quits midway through their first term in a significant office to become simply unemployed 3 years before the next Presidential election.
As to the OP, I see no reason to doubt the rink rat’s word. It wasn’t like he was trying to assert absolutely that the money was her reasoning, just saying he thought it might have been because she was always talking about it (which she undoubtedly was).

I now think it was a combination of wanting the money, and hating being stuck in Alaska away from the cameras.

Again, Obama resigned to take on the presidency. He went on to be the president. He’s the President of the United States of America.

Palin went on to be second runner up in the biggest grouper contest down the lodge.

It’s a qualitative difference.

This is patently false. Grouper are a warm water fish. She probably caught a sea bass or some kind of salmon.

Was there anything to indicate that she was doing that Governor job well, when it was the only one she had? If so, I missed seeing that.

lavenderviolet: Didn’t George W. Bush step down from his post as governor of Texas to run for president in 2000? He presumably could have waited until his term was over, too.

I have a second question: Do you not see the difference between what George W. Bush did and what Sarah Palin did?

Oh, I believe the little shit. I just think it’s funny. “Breaking news! Inside sources say Sarah Palin may be quitting for the fame and money, but not the troops.” And those guys and gals work so hard…

They’re bold, they don’t give up, they take a stand and know that LIFE is short so they choose to NOT waste time. They choose to be productive and to serve something greater than SELF… and to build up their families, their states, our country. These Troops and their important missions - those are truly the worthy causes in this world and should be the public priority with time and resources and NOT this local / superficial wasteful political bloodsport.

Now seriously, some folks have been watching too much Sean Hannity if they’re honestly contending (or pretending to contend) that seeking a different or higher position is the same as stopping (I mean fighting) in the middle of the job because point guards everywhere need to take one for the team, or whatever the fuck.

No. He left that office when his term expired, on 12/21/00.

No. He resigned a bit less than halfway through his second 4-year term as governor. AFTER his election as president had been assured.
