You can stop SNOWING on us anytime now. What the heck can you be thinking, dropping snowstorms on us in April? Two weeks ago, it was 78 degrees here!
This is a menopause thing, isn’t it?

[Lewis Black] It’s great if you’ve got fur on your nuts! If you don’t have fur on your nuts, it’s fucking cold! [/LB]
Gimme a break - you’re in Chicago? Well, maybe you’re new around here…
I’ve lived in the Chicago area since 1983. We get crazy temperature swings every single year. This is normal for around here. I think the latest snowfall occured on May 8 back in the '80’s. Ask any gardener, we aren’t assured “frost free” until May 31.
Admittedly, many people may be blocking out the trauma of previous springs…
I’ve lived in Chicago since 1964, and vividly remember the 1966 April Fool’s Day snowstorm that dropped nearly two feet of snow, and the 1978 mid-April snowstorm that shut the city down.
BUT I DON’T HAVE TO LIKE IT!!!
There oughta be a law.
Once you cut the grass IT CAN’T SNOW ANYMORE!!
Chain law in effect getting home last night. 14"s of snow. Nothing new. But it did SEEM like spring was coming (mud season).
Last Saturday golf was cancelled due to freezing weather. Looks like this Sat we’ll be snowed out. Crazy shit!
Chicago since '60, here - I remember the 78 snow as well. Absolutely stopped traffic in its tracks, stranding me at high school. Spent the night at a friend’s house. Remember how quickly it melted the very next day tho? Doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen this time.
What kind of half-assed golfer are you? I’ve got a cousin and uncle with all the necessary gear so that they can hit the links if it snows or not. Mind you, I think they’re nuts, but if it “never rains once you get on the course,” then I don’t see why a “little snow” should slow you down.
Hell, here in South Carolina it looks like we lost a huge percentage of our peach crop. At least nothing’s growing in Chicago to get zapped.
When I was younger (and less concerned with my comfort) I had several years in a row when I golfed every month of the year in Chicago. I well remember the way metal spikes improved your traction as you walked across the frozen lakes, and the decrease in distance due to the cold could be more than made up for in the outrageous bounces off of the rockhard ground.
And it is amazing how far a couple of pieces of gear can go to make it possible to golf in less than optimal conditions. Gore-tex is a wonderful invention. My buddies and I find it hard to believe how many folks restrict their golf to the period between Memorial and Labor Days. Makes for nice empty courses (and cheap rates) throughout April and October.
But I admit that I’ve never understood folks who golf with snow on the ground - other than as a joke in an “Eskimo Open” - type event. I don’t care what color your ball is, you ain’t gonna be able to find it under the snow 200 yards away!
See, when we get hot weather, it’s obviously due to global warming. And when we get cold weather, well that’s global warming too, since climate change causes unpredictability. Any questions?
Yes, what caused the Ice Age to begin, continue for as long as it did and then stop?
Dinosaur farts? Or lack thereof?
And up here in the Twin Cities they are just about set to break ground on a new stadium for the Twins. An “outdoor” stadium. What the hell are they thinking??
Geez, this is the third snow thread I’ve seen tonight. What’s going on there? 45 degrees Celsius every day now here; that’s 113 Fahrenheit. And humid.
You suck!
Looks outside office window: Perfect blue sky, temperatures in the 20s (About 80 F), lovely breeze. Perfect day for the beach.
What is this “snow” thing of which you all speak?
At this moment, there is severe weather to the SW. Weather Underground radar shows lightning with it. It’ll be here in about 2 hours.
“Oh how I love the Spring,
When nymphs and shepherds dance in a ring”
Well, THAT much heat sucks, but I have to say that I don’t think I could stand snow any more at all.
It looks we are going to have the warmest April on record here in the UK. Forecasters are are talking about temperatures up to 25C by the weekend, and it hasn’t rained for at least two weeks. It’s more like June than April.
