I see this as a highjacking, not a pile-on.

And to continue the hyjack, as has been mentioned, since earlier this afternoon when som,e kind folks called me out and said I was “pretentious”, which is, I think, pretty much where the threadactually ended, I have to say (if you missed it in other threads) that I can’t wait to see you guys again in the city.

I’d say that since Flamsterette_X put this into MPSIMS, we’re just noodling around being mundane and pointless.
And if we’re going to rate people on their turgidity and torpidity, we should also examine their turbidity.
I think that many of our fellow posters can be likened to suspended solids in water.
We were in Key West again last weekend, and the storms had churned up the water so much there was like zero visibility.

You know, I guess I have just absolutely nothing at all to say.
I just wanted to say give a golf clap to FlamX for an attempt to explain herself/apologize while at the same time not backing down or grovelling upon the approach of the peasants with pitchforks and torches.
I also would like to give a boldface kudos to GreenBean for a very classy reply. I’m in a distinct minority apparently as I generally disagree with 9.5 out of 10 things she has ever said, and if I were the “pitting” kind of person, would have hauled her into the pit several times. I was expecting a very different OP and a very different reply when I opened this and was surprised on both counts.
I would elaborate much more but this thread has already been dubbed as “dead meat”, and god forbid I go against the grain.
You know, I have met Flam a few times and she is a very nice person. She may not be YOUR kind of person, but I, personally, like her. A lot.
Now I understand that some of you might not like her posting style, and that is perfectly fine, but I don’t think she deserves being roasted over a fire for this. She made a mistake, she owned up to it and (in THIS thread) sincerely apologized. We all make mistakes. Would that we ALL should apologize when we make mistakes.
Can we just give this one a rest now? Please?
Judging by UncleBill’s post tally from about 4 hours ago, and by a quick skim of the intervening posts, looks like we basically had been doing so.

I made my Doper kilting debut in Chicago, a year ago August. Then showed again at DTF in LA, NYDope last January, and then again in Chicago last spring. You still have a fair-to-middlin chance to see either me or thinksnow or any number of others.

However, since the intervening posts seem to be mostly hijack posts, with the exception of one who appeared to be parodying something or other to do with the OP, I don’t think I am out of line in defending Flam. Hijacking in this manner on this board in this manner is usually a statement in and of itself, and we all know what it means. It appears to me that this is the case here.

Scotticher: Hmm, I don’t know - most of the “we’re pointedly ignoring this” posts seem to be along the lines of one liner non-sequiturs, like “I like pie”, “when come back bring pie”, “my cat’s breath smells like cat food”, and so on. I just figured this was an amusing hijack and discussion, personally - wasn’t intending to correct anyone, either.

Okay, I can see that you might have seen it that way, and I apologize to you. I don’t agree that that was the way it was meant, but I can understand why you saw it that way.

Don’t be sorry, it was a long day for me yesterday, and I probably wasn’t reading closely or something either. Looking at it from your perspective, I can see why you would post as you did, and think your intention was noble. (And in that light I’m sorry to bump the thread again, but thought this was a worthwhile thing to post.)
