What authorities are alleged to be holding this suspect?
NBC later reported that federal officials had told them a “possible suspect” is being guarded…not sure if that is true and BPD is being careful to repudiate reports of having someone “in custody” or if maybe some reporter saw a police officer standing near a hospital room and leaped to conclusion. It wouldn’t surprise me if the guy who did this was injured that police might have a preliminary read on him…or if they just have an unconscious guy seen carrying multiple backpacks that they’d keep an eye on him.
Realistically I imagine every hospital and every admitted person from the bombings is under some degree of police guard right now.
Y’know, if I were injured, at a hospital and of a foreign nation today, I’d want to be under guard, too.
The only update that I gave a grain of salt was NBC saying a federal official told them BPD was “guarding” someone. Guarding is not the same as custody, if they have suspicions about one of the injured persons they would keep watch on him until able to conduct an interview.
Probably the only time one will hear this phrase.
ABC just stopped coverage. I guess my local news is next.
Boston Police said no one has been “apprehended”, a much more inclusive term than “in custody”.
Boy, fuck Channel 5. I turned on the TV just to see Obama speak, and halfway through they minimized the White House feed, and played the most graphic large video they had of the first bomb, with the screams drowning out Obama’s live words.
May turn out to be nothing, of course.
They stopped my cousin before he reached the finish line and his family wasn’t at the square. Huge sigh of relief.
I’d be shocked if there weren’t a dozen Arab-looking men in custody right now, regardless of who is actually responsible.
Not that what you said is incorrect, but I’d add there’s no way that the FBI doesn’t have their local people there with bomb experts en route. They’re just letting BPD run the show until something indicating organized international or domestic terrorism pops up. Too early to get into a turf war when the dust is literally still settling.
Apprehended would imply caught or detained, if they have someone guarded it doesn’t necessarily mean either. He could be under guard for his own safety or there could be a person under emergency medical treatment the police want to interview whenever medically possible in which case they’d have officers stationed as close to him as the hospital would allow.
Apparently so.
It might be more that this particular link was already posted (and contradicted/questioned) at least 2-3 times in this thread.
This photo sums up the horror. The lady is in shock, thankfully her limbs are intact. This may be tomorrows newspaper photo.
Sorry, libs, but this is going to be one of those days where reality has a neoconservative bias.
 Unless whoever did it turns out to be a conservative.
And judging from history, a “neoconservative bias” would be to attack some nation that has nothing at all to do with this.
NBC News is reporting one of the dead is an eight-year-old child.
Oh my God.
